I know that AutoZone, etc does not have the right size, and Night Prowlers screwed me over and has delayed this project 2 weeks already. I need 3" blocks, or even 2" blocks would be OK. I don't have the tools to make my own.

    Thanks

Hmmm, I got mine at autozone for my '54 Pontiac. I'd think they'd be the same for Chevy???

I have a used set that I don't need cluttering the garage.

    PM'd you

Oh yeah, to answer your question ("where to get them") I know of two places, the latter is where I picked up mine.

    Chevies of the Forties (WA)
    Hot Rods (Norco California)

Save yourself some dough and just make them

  9. He said he doesn't have the **** to make em right now. Is the rear end the stock rear? With the crazy perches? If so you'll needa have a hole on one end of the block and a ****** on the other.. haha I said ******. I made mine, I don't mind making you a set if you want em, just charge ya the cost of the steel used to make em.

on second thought, the ones i have might be too wide for yer Chevy. i forgot those cars have narrow leaves. i think mine came out of an S10 that i bagged for somebody.

good luck Joe.. i'll have to come see the new shop this summer sometime. i still need to come out there and get my artillery wheels from Thom. i've tried to get ahold of him a few weeks ago but never got a reply in my email from him or a call back. i'm sure he's a busy guy with the new kid and all... tell him i said "HEY!!"

  11. I'm surprised NightProwlers screwed you...I bought my first set from them and had no problems. Were they just backordered?

If I can locate up my old ones, would that be considered a down payment on the HT??? :D

ha! I ordered them from Chevs of the 40s and had to pay for express shipping. That hurt. Night Prowlers kept telling me they shipped them... for 2 weeks... and it turned out they didn't even have them and they were on backorder. Brockman's was out, too.

Mike, I don't know what's up with Thom or why he's not responding, but I know he doesn't do email much. He's in the process of moving, too. I hope he still has your wheels. PM Django. He talks to him pretty regularly

I got mine from Brockman Mellowtone. I believe they are in Illinois. They were 57.00 including shipping to Seattle. Took about 4 days. But seeing that you are in Illinios, prob' get them next day.

  17. When I wanted them everyone told me the ones Autozone, Advance, Pep ****s, etc. sells work fine in these. Because the locating pin isn't centered I wouldn't be surprised if you have to drill a new hole for it, but hell I would think that would be no different than relocating the same hole when you put an open rear in one of these.

PepBoys sells 1", 2", or 3" blocks for $29. And the blocks are skinning enough to fit my 51 Chevy.

But since I've installed my 79 Camaro rearend in the car the PepBoys one won't work anymore. So I just went to a local medal shop and bought some 2" x 2" square stock and cut them to fit.
