I've been driving this around for about a month now and I'm just getting to post some pics. Here's a little history, this '30 was originally built in '66 and the paint and interior are original to '66. It was built with a small block and a power glide and a '55 chevy rear end, then in '72 the original owner put a pinto engine and ****** in it????? after that it sat in a garage from then untill I found it a few years ago. I put a dopped tube axle up front with a 4 bar and a '67 mustang box and econoline spindles and brakes because I found that setup used and cheap. I also put a warmed up 307 and a th350 because I had them and they only had 40,000 miles. The aluminum radiator was a cheap swap meet find that fit and already had a big electric fan. I rebuilt the brakes and put a mustang master cyl. on and fabbed up a steering column. I fixed all of the half ***ed welding on the frame and did a good bit of fabrication. It still has the fenders because the frame is ugly, it was boxed with another set of frame rails back in '66 and the owner told me that was common around here on model a's although I've never come across anyone else that ever saw it done that way. It drives awesome and it's pretty much been my daily drivers since I finished it. I'm a little tight in it though I'm 6'2" 275# but it will do untill I finish my coupe.
Looks like a lot of fun. The owner probably saved a bunch of gas by switching to a Pinto engine...then not driving it.
there are certain cars you see that just look fun, yours is one So each frame rail had a second frame rail welded to the inside of it?
The boxing rail was flipped and overlaps the rail side to side , its hard to explain with out seeing it.
That's a nice looking truck! Take a B&W photo of it and you'd never know it was 2006.......just like the 50's bro..... I like this better than the many over chopped, over channeled shock rods being built lately. Good Job!! Josh
I agree with ABONE312. Leave the fenders on looks cool the way it is. Kinda of a change from the norm.
Quick time travel jobs..... http://www.grease-spot.com/truck_1.jpg http://www.grease-spot.com/truck_3.jpg Truck's right on the nail! Kool 'job' Frankie. Koops.....
Definately keep the fenders. They give it a wider, more "squat" look, & just a little mean. They also cover the frame so you don't have to worry about how they rails look. Great work and drive the snot out of it.
As luck would have it, I have always been a real "COOL" guy So most of what I build just comes out "COOL" by proxy...
