B.A.R shut down street races one night and made 3 lines and three inspection stations to check cars. They looked at them front to back, any violations were noted, and alot of cars were towed. Luckily, I only got a page and a half ticket that night. And I was on a first date, we sat in that damn line for 2 1/2 hours, got to know eachother real well.

and the politicians can't figure out why we vote down every tax increase they try to add on every damn ballot....what a wast of taxpayers dollars. Hell,my stereo got ripped off...****ing cops sent me a police report in the mail..I filled it out and kept a copy for myself. I said there's a bunch of stuff getting ripped off in this area..why don't you try to catch the criminals instead of setting a cop at the corner watching for honest taxpaying citizens rolling the stopsign (2 blocks from where my stereo got jacked)...no ****ing answer! I don't blame the cops, they're just doing a job that they are told they have to do....but someone is screwing us good!

    my god, no ****.

not the only time, but on one occasion i was driving home on a freeway going through downtown LA... i almost got creamed by 1 SUV, a honda and a garbage truck, different events totally unrelated... straight pipes didnt help me much. you just cant see an early 30's car while zipping around at 80mph in medium traffic while talking on a cell phone....too much going on.

mufffler tickets all come down to the person and the car. a young punk in a 70 nova with a brown door is going to get a ticket before the guy in a open header nice paint car.

  9. Not for long. The EPA and DOT have gotten together and are trying to p*** an unfunded mandate on loud exhaust.
$5,000 (yes, five very large) fine for the consumer using a non-compliant exhaust, $25,000 fine to the dealer for installing same.

No ****. Arlen Ness got a $5,000 ticket for no info sticker on a fender (true!!) and several No. Cal. M/C shops have been hit with $25,000 fines for offering bikes on consignment that didn't meet standards (EPA-DOT).

H-D (the Motor Company) will very shortly NOT be selling ANY non-compliant exhaust, not even labled "Off Road Use Only". Stock and quiet, or nothing.

Bob Dron (of Dron's H-D) informed the writer of the article I'm reading (John Wykoff in Motorcycle Product News) that the CHP has been given photos of non-compiant exhaust with instructions to ticket BOTH the owner, AND supplier of same.

Loud pipes might save lives (or might piss off the wrong people, your pick), but they are going to empty more wallets than they ever saved lives (if they did, one of the two is gonna be a sure thing).

Guess how long before this hits the car world...

When I was young and stupid (Last week the wife says but htis was in 1968) I was driving a 56 Buick Super Ragtop around Encinitas, CA. The Boys in Blue decided that since I like to cruise I MUST be delivering drugs and targeted me.
One time they stopped me and brought out hte damn shiffing dog and gave the car a once over inside and out. Damn dog pissed on my back seat. Fargin cops thought it wa funny but when I showed up the next moning at the cop-shop with the old man in tow they weren't so amused. Being 17 I diddn't know squat, but he did and read them the riot act and threatened to sue.

The word got out and they left me alone after that.

Yeah, and the **** of it all is that the 'pols' don't even care - they're the ones in charge, and they'll do damned well what they please. If you make too much fuss, they will get you.

About twenty years ago, I wrote a letter to the Orange County Register - that's in Calif. - lambasting a California Senator; named names, and stated facts and dates. All of a sudden, my existence was an absolute hazard to life - I got stopped at least twice a week, and sometimes more, anywhere I went in OC, no matter which vehicle registered to me that I was in. They never stopped my wife, but one of my sons got stopped one time in my work truck. I was intimidated, threatened, searched, inspected, and if I got too "stand up for myself", I was cuffed and put in the car, and detained for up to an hour, or so. I was never ticketed or arrested, but was made late to work several times, over the span of a year and some change. One day, I mentioned it to a guy that was working on the same job, and he asked me for some details. That evening I got a phone call from someone who wouldn't identify himself, but told me that the guy at work had told him of my situation, and he wanted to know all about it. A couple of days later, I was stopped on my way home, and the cop called the stop in, came back and gave me my papers back, apologized for my inconvenience, and sent me on my way. After that, I was never bothered again.

The moral of this "sob story"?? Don't get too much in a "pols" face, keep your eyes and ears open, your head down, your *** tucked in, and your mouth shut.

    along these lines

They started doing that in our town with motorcycles, only there is no decible ordinace for motor vechiles,Yet most don't even know that and just pay the ticket,,in fact very few have such laws. There are noise ordinaces yet most of them are before a certain AM and PM..Funny thing is there was never this problem before in this is in a tonw with rather heavy biker club traffic,,the h***les started when the NU Harley riders started popping up and had to make as much noise as they could so they would be noticed,,,Damn Calander Bikers need to much attention,,I'm sure has happened with cars as well.

  15. Hey I'm from that area - grew up in Torrance. Where were they doing this **** at --- down by the beach someplace? The cops in Redondo have always been strict . . . used to worry when I took any of my louder cars down that way. You would sure think there was more important work for them . . . must be bored.

See.. there's the problem again. It's not cop bashing.. the pigs are just doing there jobs.. it's LAW bashing. Damn politicians get some stupid idea in their heads, and make a local ordinance, or state law, or federal law. **** makin choices on the big stuff... like whether or not we should be at war, or whether national healthcare is a good idea.. nope.. were gonna make so god damned many local laws that you can't fart in public without gettin a ticket. Think I'm jokin.. check your local court house for a list of local ordinances. I'll be damned if there aint a few THOUSAND pages to read, and tickets that can screw ya for anything from 50 bucks to a few thousand, without battin an eye. So.. keep your garbage cans in your garage, keep your lawn mowed, keep your cars off blocks and hidden, or you could be ****ly ****d by the local pigs. Sorry.. I'm not pig bashin... just LAW bashin.

As to an earlier post... about having enough numbers to make a difference... yeah That's what the good ole USA is supposed to be about. But when is the last time our good ole USA citizens put down their god damned cell phones, hopped outta their minivan/suv drivin ******** at***udes, and got together to make a difference. Hmm... it's been about 30 ****in years... HELLO... wake up people. This world is changin.. and it's not always goody goody happy go lucky ****. You wanna make a difference, you'd better wake up the rest of your block... and neighborhood, and town, and state.. and on and on... you got money.. go for it. Otherwise, just sit on your *** *****in, and take it.

    Rant over

That's what SEMA is for.. they're the ones that helped p*** the law for compliant exhaust systems in California. Bottom line is, you can have all the numbers you want, but it still takes a legitimate lobbyist group (like SEMA) to get it done.

I saw the signs again, but no checkpoint. A friend of mine thinks that the using "Loud Muffler" is just an excuse to pull over any su****ious, shady, or undesirables folks....There's been a recent string of burglaries in Hermosa/Redondo/Manhattan......
