  1. 20170719_192819.jpg I acquired this Orange Crate chassis and motor from the estate of Model Cars Magazine editor Harry Pristnovik, his daughter had his huge collection up for sale after his passing awhile back. Someday I hope to bring it to completion .

That is highly detailed! the dash wiring is over the top:D

  5. Harry's assembling and painting skills are quite evident...anyone who has tried to put together one of these Revell kits can attest. One thing that bothered me though...for some reason the seam line in the fuel tank was not corrected...not sure why he left that untouched since he apparently de-chromed the tank and metallized it.

Just about done. I did some real gold leaf on the bed side trim followed by BMF edge trim. Just a few more things to button up. 20190716_153854~2.jpg 20190802_224109.jpg 20190803_014056.jpg

Wow, not into rat rods other than the brilliant and artistic talents they demonstrate, but gotta say this 36 is just flat-ass KOOOOOOL.
Nice work, now build the 1:1 version.

  20. I finished this up last night, first completed model in just over a year. Most of it was done over a year ago, I just didn't know how I wanted to finish it up. The idea was a barn find truck with recent hot rod modifications on an otherwise weathered truck. I think the idea started because these Revell wheels/tires sat on my work bench out in the open for literally a few years getting test fitted to everything.
Paint is a couple of Tamiya greens, some kinda black, red oxide and gray primers, and brown craft paint, applied from spray cans, airbrush, and by brush. I struggled with how to finish it- initially it was supposed to be more modified and more detailed, but for the sake of finishing something without "reinventing the flathead", I decided to keep the stock engine, and later decided not to plumb or wire it at all and just get the damned thing done (I have two other flatheads in progress needing detail and they've proven tricky for me to wire). In my head it should've been a little less rusty, and I debated stripping the paint, but again, decided to just finish it. Besides the wheel swap, it's box stock except for the exhaust. I made both mufflers, added one to the stock pipe, and notched the frame and made the second pipe. It has the kit drop axle, and is otherwise pretty stock.

Done! I'm happy with it. Not super detailed but the paint and pearlcoat and decals laid out nicely. The hood didn't fit fer beans so it goes to the side. Other than that I'm super impressed with the tooling overall. Very good for a 55 year old kit! I had to buy another one just for kitbashing some of the chrome and baby hemi!
