How was it? I've never been. I'm just wondering if it's worth going up there for just the swapmeet. Is it big, like how long would it take to walk it? Full of billet or is there some cool stuff for sale? Thanks, I'm not too into the show itself but thought the swap may be worth while. I looked at other threads but couldn't really find any description of it.
Here's my shoebox,sandimasguy's shoebox,Eddie-bumpstick's Merc,slddnmatt's girlfriend's 51 Merc 4dr,slddnmatt's buddy Joe's 51 Merc(green,chopped one),and sandimasguy's HOTTIE wifes 31 sedan.We were there til about 2:30.It was pretty HOT! Great show.The home-built guys are taking over! Not as many trailer queens this year.Chris,Dreadman,came by but left and I couldn't find him.
Yup... I went. It was great. I didn't put on sunscreen, like an idiot, and now have the pure redneck tan to prove it. I didn't get what I was looking for in the swap meet section (Model A decklid), but enjoyed seeing some of the cars in show - but also some awesome cars in the parking lot!!! Josh.
I was there. The same overpriced, over rated **** was there. secondly, I found what I needed...and the seller wouldnt even negotiate the price. Its sad when sellers look more towards the money, instead of the Hobby itself. (I understand the whole make a living sort of thing here so Im not bashing on that...no reason to get off on a tangent on that subject) overpriced, is overpriced.
definately over priced and all i heard all day when trying to negotiate was "its still early".....they were still saying that as everyone was leaving at 4
how about that 34 body only, 70k wtf over that just meant not for sale and jf thats the case there was lots of stuff not for sale
Tetnus shot, love that car!I go to Hunington every weekend with my son,and just cruise Main St. and drive down the coast.Chopped50Ford,my friends and I were just talking about how it's the same stuff you see at Long Beach and Pamona swap. They raise the prices due to all the out-of towners with the cash, and the "Goldchainers".I love that show, just to walk around the swap meet and the cars in the Preferred area.I'm a Mercury fanatic,so I look for them all day.I've been going to the show for years.Today was the first time i've taken a car with me,great fun!
i was there and i scored!!! the only thing i really wanted was slighlty over priced. hung out with ron c, got heat stroke (or felt like it) and listened to some winfield stories. it was still worth the trip, to me it's still the best place to find parts out of all the swaps in the area. also i did see an A trunk lid, it was $500.......still was cheap compaired to the '36 one for $1450.
yeah i couldnt believe how outrageous most of the prices were, saw a 32 3w body only 40k!!! and nobody would budge from their prices, i couldnt believe it. i did find a couple of parts though, some spark plug wire covers for the nailhead and i scored a transmission adapter (322-manual chevy) for singledownloop who had been looking for one, i bought it knowing that he needed it. bob i will keep my eye out for you, i live downtown right by main st so im always down there, and you car would be hard to miss
I went back today(sunday)and traded my sons '68 Impala for "flynstones" chopped '50 shoebox. Now i'll have my '49 Merc,my younger sons '49 shoebox, and now my older sons '50 shoebox in the driveway. He wants to repaint it so it doesn't look like his brothers car.
