Hi, my name is Barn-core, I'm a recovering Volks-a-holic, 3 years sober. I think I just fell off the "wagen". Seriously that is one sweet car, Volkswagen or not, and you are obviously very talented. The reason I quit playing with these cars was no one ever did much outside the box with them, and the scene just got stale for me. You have just raised the bar, and possibly even tempted me a little.

i really like the back fender treatment too,
looks like some work if they're steel.

ok saw your in progress link.
that is one good sized project.
the outcome and fact you finished it is amazing

    that deck lid is great,
hopefully that bondo won't bake off though huh...
    still one nice piece

you should learn to hammergas or tig weld,
german steel is second only to early ford steel in flow,
then you won't have to grind all your weld off.

    cool,

    tp aka zibo again

    I agree...
best version of a bugrod I've seen.
Metal is metal, I'm not opposed to german metal anymore than I am to British, Italian or any European rides... more power to ya.

damn it, your car is making me eat my words.

before i said i really disliked making vw's look like traditional hot rods, because they have their own traditional style.

now.... well, i like the look of your car. the color is great and the style is clean. well done.

yes, im a vw guy as well-- who in the past has built quite a few, ranging from a 9 second turbo drag car to a 12 second DKP styled street car. if people keep reminding me of vw's on the HAMB here, i'm going to get temped to build another one day....

I've seen a lot of VW's, but I've never seen one even come close to your ride. That is so fine, you nailed it man.
    Congratulations.

I can't tell you guys how much it means to hear all these compliments. I thought you may shut the thread down because it's a VW but damn am I eating my words now!

It was a hell of a lot of work but sooo worth it! Everywhere I go it just seems to get compliments, I'm very happy with the way it turned out.
Now onto the next project :)

    Zibo,
Yes it's all steel. You can see it in the link below, a few minutes in you will see all the metal work.

    GKAFER,
When you were down at the Classic, did you see the Papler 4 door police car? My friends who built it were supposed to drive out from Florida. Your car looks stunning. I'm sure I'll be talking to ya at Hotrod a rama.

    rockabillyjoe,
I didn't see it but then I couldn't get away from the car much. I love the 4 door police cars, was it slammed on Radars? We went and met Jessie James on Monday, he just bought one as well. Hebmuller 4 door.

    too cool!

Yea as I walked into that kms tools show this morning, and stopped and looked at this car and that other pickup with the canadian customs logo. Wierd that I've seen pictures of both of here and then in real life too. Anyways I had to stop and think for a good minute where have I seen this vw hot rod before. LOL it wasn't till I got home that I realized it was a hamber.

Also I have to say both rods were totally bitchin up close. Very nice work :)

  24. I've had many VW's,went to the Bug-ins,worked on over 1000 Bugs, and by far the best VW I have ever seen!I tried to post pics of the car after I saw it at the show and maybe it got pulled.I'm glad it finally got on here.I built one similar to it back in '79.The guy who bought it from me still has it.It's flat black with flames. It has white walls on it now. When I sold it,it had red VW steelies and a tonneau cover.I haven't seen in a couple years though.Yours looks much better, not just a bug with no fenders. My compliments.Bad Bob

Geoff - congrats on the complession on the baddest Heb Rod known to man kind. Every thing from the bitch'n convert chopped roof line to the hard core stance makes the hair on my arms stand up. Hard work & determination definetly pays off! It was great seeing you take dad for his fathers day cruise in Heb rod.
