As flatdog said "today our most important tool is our brain." I got sick and tired of gl*** gears and tourque tubes so Joe (sixcarb) and I too my Buick up to DJ's (flatdog) transmission shop to get it on the lift and bounce some ideas off each other, sooo.

Here is the Buick ready to go to DJ's

This is what a Buick torque tube looks like, the coil rear suspension is so useless without the tourque tube hooked up that you can't even push the car around.

We decided the most straightforward course of action is to use leaf springs, most guys use a four link for this swap so they can slam the car, but i'm building a sleeper/hot rod so stock ride hight is suitable.

Here is the 10 bolt we are putting under the Buick, springs and all. DJ and I took alot of measurements and ithe swap should be pretty straightforward, some fab involved, but nothing I can't handle.

The transmission I have lined up is an 833 4 spd that I guess chevy bought from Chrysler in the 80's, it's actually a 3+1 with the 4th gear overdriven which hopefully may help in the area of fuel consumption.

and on an unrelated note, here is DJ's rad 4x2 setup for flathead
