We had a great time at the HRR at Bowling Green, finally got to meet Denise and Rudy, Buckshot, **** Reynolds, Dirty Danny and his sweet little girl, and several other Hambers I've talked to here. Saw a lot of HAMB and several of the 'new' Jalopy Journal shirts running around. I can't believe I forgot my camera but I know someone will post pics soon.

Unfortunately my transmission went to C4 heaven Friday. It started to slip really bad on the way in, so I pulled over so I wouldn't be the ***hole who blocked traffic on opening day. If you've ever been to Beech Bend you know it's a long one lane road going in and one dsiabled vehicle can sure **** things up. We got it over to our spot after it cooled down but it's fried. I think the forward clutches are burnt up.

Thanks to the Poor Boys and eveyone else around who helped me get it loaded up. (That was an adventure in itself, I'm sure someone got pics of that too)

Didn't let it ruin the weekend though, we had a great time even with the rain yesterday afternoon and golf carts buzzing around everywhere like ****ing mosquitos. I hope they do something about that for next year though, it was just ridiculous.

After the ambulance deal last night, they need a better way of getting out of there. I heard saturday it took some people 3 hours to get in.

Just returned home from the HRR in Bowling Green. Sorry to hear about your trans. We had a hydralic throw out brg. stop working in St.Louis G***ers orange 55. But that is hot rodding.
Yes the golf carts **** so bad it is not funny. Racers need golf carts for towing cars and running back to the pits, but countless other people just using them to look at cars and with no consideration to auto traffic. I say next year you have to have a race car to have a golf cart. Like when you get your race car creditionals there would be ONE sticker for that racers cart. And that is it. Sorry for the ***** session, but the golf carts are a damn pain.
I like the show in bowling green because of the cars that it draws, but `to me the H.A.M.B Drags smokes it. The traffic gettin in to Beech Bend and the golf carts are enough to discourage people from going.
And I took my camera but only took a few photos. So i hope someone posts some.

    few more.
Also if anyone knows the lady who gave me water while sitting in traffic in the heat please thank her. She saw me pushing it and i was drenched in sweat and at the point of fainting. She got out popped her trunk and offered my the coldest best tasting water i think i ever had. Gold car with Missouri tags, plus she was cute.

It was great,But, like every one says only racers should have carts. staff of course. the stop sign going out is bad, most people come to a complete stop. the police should monitor the traffic better in town. there are lots of bad, lots of good. i was only able to meet one HAMB member:) . i guess i didn't know where. good time.

Yeah, that was kinda my thoughts on the carts. I know the racers need 'em, no problem there. But there were people just poking along gawking at cars and even through the swap meet, where there was barely enough room to walk around in spots in the first place.

There were kids racing around on them too, sometimes with as many as 6-7 people piled on a cart. Scooters, Gators, Mules and four wheelers ran amok. I think several of those custom golf carts cost more than my truck.

Still, even with the traffic, the rain, the carts and even my broken-down truck I had a blast. The crowd at the Friday get-together was good even though we got there a little late.

I love this pic of me talking to Earl Schieb. I look tired, and it wasn't just because I was holding a hip flask. :D

I was Lucky enough to have a guy come down from the pits and weld my busted motor mount up in the heat of the day,I didnt formally meet alot of HAMBers I think I probly spoke with some un knowingly but it was a good time and saw lots of nice cars. BTW Does anybody know how the people that got hurt are doing.I seen it happen and it wasnt good

The fuel altered near the far end of cars, when it started it was in reverse and had the wheels cut to the left ,so as soon as it lit and he blipped the throttle it backed up and pinned a couple people against the wall and then drug them about 2 car lengthsdown the pitside wall, if it wasnt for a quick thinking fireman who popped a extinguisher down the injector and killed the motor it would have gotten more people and then an official took off running to get the ambulance (I heard had a heart attack when he got down to the other end) thats what the 3rd ambulance came for

Shoe, same here - nice to meet ya. You guys all looked pretty tough cruising out Saturday.

Thats too bad about the people getting hurt, but I'd say for as many people and cars (and golf carts) that were there and with open pits, the heat and everything else it's pretty fortunate there was only the one incident.

  14. I had a great time, even with the rain and some of the other weird things that happened. I'm looking forward to doing the whole weekend next year.

We drove up to Indiana yesterday morning to pick up a car, then driving south again we drove past a semi rolled over in the northbound lane. 15 miles of stopped traffic and a torrential downpour. Saw a bunch of open roadsters sitting there looking miserable. Any HAMBers caught in that ****? Denise? Did you get home dry?

Shoe, we made it home with no problems at all. Pulled into the driveway at midnight.

Good to meet everyone. I've got a ton of photos. I'll post some tonight when I get home.

  16. Oh yeah, great gas mileage driving over the mountains  Fun driving down Mounteagle and playing dodge-em minivan in the dark too.

I haven't heard a report from Dave's wife yet. Too bad the car doesn't have an interior... he might be sleeping in it. :D

As a bonus, the Dodge got a really good powerwash on the drive home. Damn near looks brand new again :D

  17. Out of all the places I(We) go the South is hands down the friendliest place when it comes to the people. I have met so many really great HAMB folks and some not on the board for that matter and each and every one are great.

Gator it was nice to see you and Ihope you get the truck fixed real soon, there is still lots of summer left.

I Heard That The Guy That Got Hit By The Aa/fa That Got Out Of Control Was Ok!! With Only Minor Injurys And The Track Worker That Had The Heart Attack Was Also Ok!!
I Agree With To Many Golf Carts And Quadrunners Just Way Out Of Control.they Were Renting Them To Anybody. Special Needs People Reunion Staff And Racers Only The Rest Of Us Are Healthey Enough To Get Around You Can'tsee Every Thing Anyway There Is Just Too Much To See. My Neck Is Sore From Looking Back And Forth All The Time Great Time Agreat Time!!!!!!

It was the Pure Heaven car that jumped into gear. The crewman is ok, with s****es, and bruises, they thought he had cracked ribs, but was ok, reatively speaking. A girl was burned by hot headers, but is ok. The heart attack victim is ok and being tested as a precaution. After the track closed down Sat. nite I was fortunate enough to have supper with Big Daddy, Ray Godman, Fright train crew, and a lot of other great racers,at the steak n shake.. Some changes need to be made in the cacklefeast. Removing the couplers in the drivetrains would be a good idea. keeping the crowds away from the cars, would be a start.
