Was it a burnout, or is that just a lot of rust?

That car was beautiful. I would paint it the same color scheme as before.

That is a project far beyond most guys capabilities but looking at the VW photo I'd have to think you are capable of getting it done.
I just had to save the photo in post 6 for the next time someone asks how to lift the body off a chassis. That is pretty interesting.

Ive always heard its hard to get paint to stay on burned metal, Is there a process that has to be done?
Does anyone know what it is?
It came from molten metal to begin with but Im not sure how all that works???

Burned metal needs normal sanding/sandblaster . It is enough good.If you paint straight to surface , bereft sanding/sandblaster offcourse paint loosen to surface.

There is not actually a lot of info for the Buick 8 (though a Chevy 6 Bible!), but California Bill's classic is widely available, and a good read.

I made a motorcycle trip to your neighborhood at yesterday. I heard that you are the same guy who called me few months ago about my rotisserie. I dont know is this a small country or a small world but i know the guy who sold you this project. He is originally from my neighborhood. We were at school same time and later he was in my unit when i was in the army. Good luck with the build!
