Mostly to keep this thread alive, here is the first version of possible work Rik did for me about two years ago. The design has all changes "bolt on" the 40 Merc Convertible sedan so it could be returned to stock if the next owner desired. Headlighs changd to '39 style, "DeSoto" bumpers, remove running boards and trim with ribbed stainless, chip guard, skirts, lower front and rear and a non-folding top to get better contour.
OK, this might be a little off-topic and entirely self-serving. There is a '40 Mercury convertible on the Spud's Garage Recently Sold column. Do any of the Merc lovers out there know what the actual name or code for the beautiful green would be ? Thanks in advance, Dave At least you might look at a beautiful '40 ...
A couple of pictures of my 40 convertible which I sold while in a state of stupidity. The coup belonged to my friend Conrad Winkler who I brought my 40 from.
Realy diggin the state 'inbetween'... especially the nose a little up. I look at this pic every day on the pc at work. It might have been posted in this thread earlier...I scanned all earlier posts and while doing got happier. Who's car is this, is it finished already, some of us missed out on the fun I learned we have one 39 merc in Holland, let's add another one in the future! Sent from my HUAWEI GRA-L09 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I'm the owner of a 39 Merc coupe in Holland, but there is also a 40 Merc coupe in Holland belonging to " Rubens" here on the HAMB. Not active since early 2018 so I don't know the status. There are BTW at least 3 other 39/40 Mercs in Holland.
Yea,I am coming up on 57 years young.Wish I had a young helper with the same car driven madness we all share.
Some of you may remember my '40 Ford phantom convert from the build thread that ran on here roughly 2010-2017. Don Dillard built a faux '40 Merc grille for it to fit in the '40 Ford Standard grille opening. I'm posting pictures in this thread simply because the car is frequently mistaken for a customized '40 Merc:
Was lucky to help bring many young guys into the hobby and that started back in the 90s and still friends with most of them, but lost my shop and had to move but still proud of those guys, I get together with them when I can, I'm 59 and would love to have another shop soon an maybe help some other guys get started. To help Bump this thread along..I just bought this from a fellow hamber . Its a project. It's a itch I have had for a long time. So being 60 yrs young,it was time to scratch!.. got it a couple months ago. I'm missing the PASSENGER SIDE QTR PANEL STAINLESS,in case anyone has one laying around and the exterior hood latch assembly..mine is broken/missing..
I'm using this merc as Inspiration..this merc is from a Dago shop,Bellos Kustoms..I like the retention of the OG door and qtr frames..
Rik, Notice that this Merc also has quarter windows added, as I did on my '40 Ford. If the picture was taken in 2103, he beat me to it!
