    Just on road test drive.
'48 flathead dual 97's on Edelbrock slingshot, mech fuel pump, (elect pump as a backup or primer pump/ not normally used), older pressure reg (round with rotating dial), vented fluid filled fuel pressure gauge. Pressure set to 2.5 psi.

Was running good and strong. After a WOT run coming to stop it started to spit sputter and stalled. Started back up and immediately died over and over. Noticed pressure gauge reading zero. Turned on electric pump and pump continually ran not building up pressure. Battery died and towed home.

Once home charged battery and started right up. Ran fine and showed 2.5 psi even after shut off. Could float, needle/seat stuck open? Would that cause zero fuel pressure?
    No external fuel leak.

    Thanks

I would try a new fuel regulator first. Those round types are iffy.

The electric pump didn’t start it. Hmmm.
Yep. I’d guess it’s the fuel regulator too if it was my problem.

Easy to remove those carb tops and check out your fuel flow.

Wonder if there is a fuel blockage or vent issue. If the electric pump didn't build pressure and stop running, it's possibly due to it having no fuel to pump. If the regulator was bad and not allowing fuel to the carb, the electric pump would have built up pressure and stopped. Kind of sounds like the fuel line ran dry or there was a vacuum in the tank keeping fuel from flowing.

there was fuel and car seemed like flooded not lack of fuel but too much fuel. If float was stuck open could that result in no fuel pressure?

I pulled one plug and it was wet with fuel

Flooded.....got it. At 2.5 psi pressure to start with, a stuck float would very likely result in no fuel pressure showing on the gauge and would also cause the electric pump to run on, pumping fuel into the engine.
