It's a Gurney/Weslake Ford DOHC Indycar motor from the '60s.

As said, it's a DOHC Indy Ford, with the heads flipped to orientate the intake system and exhaust to a conventional configuration.

The car is owned by Bill Aiken of Nashville and was built almost from scratch probably 20 years ago(hence the style) Even the front axle is hand fab'd. He's a very accomplished machinest and has a complete shop in his ba*****t. It was never finished and this is the first time I've seen it out.

He also has done/owns TWO restored Indy cars, one of which won Pebble Beach and is in the Peterson museum. Also has an impressive collection of Offy engines, and some other exotic stuff, including another couple of these Fords.

He also owns a *****in 40 coupe with BBC with Webers, and the old Tom Medley/Stroker McGurk channeled 32 roadster. They were there last year.

    He's the genuine article:
Retired old timer, extremely multi-talented, crusty curmudgeon.

  17. Sounds like an interesting guy with a ton of good knowledge to share. dvanecek and I asked him about the motor (the hood was closed) and he said something along the lines of, "it says Ford on it, can't you read?". We walked away scratching our heads.

On the other side of the coin, Hog Mountain Dave talked to us for an hour and introduced us around, put beers in our hands, gave a us a ride to the start/finish line and treated us like family. I'm bummed that I never got to see Hellzapoppin' on the track, but I'm thankful to Dave and crew for the hospitality.

    Photos to follow.

Great pics; thanks for posting them!

Lots of stuff I missed, being only there for Sat.

Going home Sunday, four thunderstorms  with no top and ZERO visibility, made for a wet and miserable ride.

But it's not to be missed:D

that was a sweet ride.....a lot of trick stuff .....though it was showing its age.....i asked him if lil john had any influence on the car......he just smiled.....the car has a sound you won't hear every day ....or year for that matter.......4 webers , dry sump oiling.....and enough gears in the timing .....throw in the 5 speed and a quickie.....you'd never hear your self think ...seen them driving it around sunday .....neat car.....he said he was working the bugs out .....then maybe paint....my only changes.....a set of knockoff halibrands and some louvers.....brandon
