Well this has turned out to be an interesting thread. I didn't pay it much attention to start with because cowl lights just don't seem like much of a hot rod item to me. I guess some previous owner opened these bolt holes up for some reason, and I just assumed that is where the cowl lights mount. Apparently not. So I'm still confused how they install, there are no holes for the lights where you guys are showing them mounted.
You are missing in a screw in your hole. You need to drill your own holes in the cowl panel for cowl lights. Your car never had them installed. This is in response to Blues4U
If your headlights are low enough you can mount them upside down by putting on opposite sides... ** clic pic**
Haven't seen it, but how about using them as parking / blinker light mounted on the frame near the head lights... any pix ?
There is a support brace inside the cowl that has about a 3/8" hole in it. This can be used to locate the hole for the larger outside hole. A wood block goes in between this brace and the outside panel to prevent crushing as mentioned in an earlier thread. The cowl light bolts inside using the small hole.
Simon, To order those from U.S.A. you will get hit an extra $35 import tax plus the $35 postage which also seems a little on the high side. Surely you can find something local. Forget about buying a cowlband from the U.S.A. that will be bent and twisted by the time it reaches you.
It it the huge Beaulieu Auto Jumble this weekend ( just up the road ) I will try and find something there first . Thanks for the advice
If you find a cowl band be sure it has the steel threaded studs on the bottom, good ones are getting harder to find and they fit better than the reproductions. Bob
