The receipt is quite beat up and hard to read. I just deciphered as much as I could and found some interesting stuff. The top of the receipt has what looks like:
    New Departure
    Division of ..... Motors Corp.
    Meriden, CT

    Then it has:
    Sold To:
    New Departure Div of GMC
    Bristol, CT

    Then it has:
    Ship To:
Pete Wallace (Hard to read best I could make out)
    71 Washington Street
    Arlington, MA

On the back of the blueprints it has a stamp from New Departure product engineering May 3rd, 1955.

I'm curious if this New Departure was actually a part of General Motors and wonder what they were doing with the blower?

Did a Google search on New Departure div General Motors and came up with this. Follow link.

You have to read a little but apparently they became a part of GM in 1918. There is a timeline a little further on the page. They were a bell manufacturer the was acquired by a bearing manufacturer that was subsequently acquired by GM.

Clark, do you come up to Wheels of Time in Macungie at the end of August?

Didn't New Departure make bicycle coaster brakes when we were kids? Well, when some of us were kids?

I would encourage you do***ent everything you got in a very concise and thorough way......I know people that would go a little south of 16k for what is in that suitcase...... not to mention the previously mentioned historical factor, obviously..... thanks for sharing such a find, we were just talking about the odds of finding anything out there this cool that hasn't already "been found...." We agreed on "nil-to-none"

Yes in 1898 they invented the coasting feature and in 1899 added the brake. Started making bearings in 1908.

There is still a lot of cool stuff out there. This year I've found plenty of cool stuff searching salvage yards and hitting auctions. Last week Mikey bought a flathead with aluminum heads an Edmunds 2-2 intake and a merc crank. The same guy sold a 48 Ford p/u with s-10 ch***is and the original ch***is along with a blower and intake for $1500. I had a post on here not long ago about the old guys know. Just try talking to them and they will tell you where this stuff is. I've known about this blower for a couple years and was good friends with the older guy who owned it. He was a hunter of fine auto parts and we would share our finds or tell each other where stuff was. Sometimes I'd just look around his place and drink brandy with him and listen to his stories. Anyway he bought an attic full of parts and this was in there. Last year he past away and his wife was kind enough to let us purchase some things he had. I think we bought the coolest stuff they had.

Trust me the real story is not that great. Just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

History as I know it.....It came out of an attick of an old body shop. The guy that bought it knew it was cool but didn't know how cool. He p***ed away and his widow is selling off some of his stuff. Jr (fatabone) helped me get it. It was overlooked cause it was in that old suitcase.

Now before you guys really hate me....I didn't offer the widow $100. I offered her what I found out later to be double what her husband had wanted for it. Like I said...he didn't know how cool it was.

LongT..thanks for the link. I see New Departure was a bearing company about the time the receipts are for. The blueprint is for the snout of the blower. Maybe they were for the new design for SCOT. The only thing that doesn't make sence is this blower is a front mount and not the type with the pulleys. The mystery keeps going:D
