Just had the seats redone in my 59 Bel-Air, this spring. The 59 Impala speaker grill and rear arm rests were installed in about 1992.

Before and after...

 

I wanted to use fiberglass bucket seats instead of the usual molded plastic drag seats. I finally found some at Aircraft Spruce. They are only 3.5 lbs each, not cheap at $85 each but they are wider than the narrow Speedway buckets. I modified a cheap pair of Summit covers. and added a little egg crate foam under them.

 

My 60 Impala more door interior. Old school !

 

Had a local shop upholster a Glide Engineering frame for my '39 p/u. Hopefully they'll be able to do as nice of a job when I get around to the upholstery on my '54 Ranch Wagon

 

Ronny just sent me a pic of his new custom fit frame all upholstered and looking very surf shop appropriate. Thanks Ron!

Hi 51504Bat, I live out in your area and I have been looking to get a bench a seat done for my 40 sedan, I was curious where you got your seat done for your 39p/u. It came out really nice!

500 bucks. I provided the Glide Engineering frame but not the foam. Ramirez said they would rather use their own and I'm glad I took their advice. The Glide foam wasn't cheap and I really like the way the sculpture of the seat came out. They do a lot of big truck upholstery repair for dealers so it took them a while to do it between their regular customer jobs but it was worth the wait, IMO.

Glen Rogers sent us his custom measurements for his 29 Model A Roadster. Required a super thin back as the leg room is a premium in these trucks. Very nice and appropriate look for his ride. Thanks for the pics Glen!

Here are the seats for my Comet rebuild, they were ‘64 T bird seats that my upholstery guy did in the stock ‘64 Comet Cyclone pattern. The center inserts are perforated, the silver piping and the emblem are exactly what the stock Cyclone seats had.
I adapted the Comet tracks to the T bird frames.

Any more completed over the Covid brake? It got pretty slow here at the seat factory until those checks went out! Boom what a stimulus for us! Thanks for the boost and making the machinery turn once again.

 

Here are mine. Fabric is repo original 1956 Peacock Blue broadcloth but the pattern is for the 55 Sunliner. Pleated package tray finishes it off like we had in the 60's,

Just Kidding! I wish I could find somebody to make them look like this... since Barren-labonney went under...

Bet you would be surprised how many good upholstery shops can make them look exactly like those finished seats. Wonder who made LaBarrons for them?

Thanks for that thread I saw a few on there that are in my area near Roseville California. I have a question since you do seat frames, my original seat frames have a little rusted out spots. Do upholstery shops fix that kind of stuff or do they just only do coverings? Or do you have to find a special old car place?
I mean if I got creative enough I could probably actually fix the seat frame myself. But I was wondering about the old-style tack strips that they used to use, do they have some kind of new tack strip instead?
