Saw this article and thought it was interesting. Something all hotrodders may face when they pull a car out of the weeds or a barn, then try to fix it up and get it registered. Here is the link to it: http://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/cl**...te-disagrees/ar-AAHfZys?li=BBnb7Kz&OCID=HPDHP
he should also contact SEMA see if they could help , you would think the state would let him register it all they care about is the all mighty dollar and seperating the tax payer from theirs
I'd think that the real issue us that when it was wrecked the ***le was turned into the state by the insurance or the wrecking yard that that they bought it back from. The OMG I have to use the original ***le rather than get out the receipts for the replacement parts and put together A a detailed build book with photos entailing the rebuild and then get the rebuilt/ ***embled ***le.
So much for playing by the rules.Think I would register it in one of the states that dont do inspections, and just want the money. One guys opinion,a clear ***le,and a rust pile are worth far more than a nice car with paper problems.Get the do***ents done then do the car.
This makes me think how easy it would be for these spineless, Prius-loving, hippy-dippy, brainless, ****-less, politicians (on ALL political sides) could someday make it nearly impossible to drive our cars on the street. A lot of people love all this new tech self driving, parallel parking, air bag filled plastic disposable barbie carts, (CUZ YOU KNOW SUBARU'S ARE MADE WITH LOVE) I just think it makes easier for these ***clowns to come up with new laws and regulations until you can't even leave the driveway. Thank God for SEMA. I know this story is not the case but you see how it could happen.
I don't know of a "junk" ***le..etc...but we have a "salvage" ***le here, and does not mean that you can never drive the auto on the road again. Just means insurance didn't think is was cost effective to repair.
I can see Nebraska's point where the junk ***le thing goes. As I said earlier from reading the article. You did res the complete article? They rebuilt the after it had been wrecked. That means they bought the parts he is complaining that he claims that the state says he has to buy unless he didn't replace those parts. State says he has to get an ***embled vehicle ***le. He is whining because he wants grand[a's old ***le reinstated. He is a ******** crybaby wanting ATTENTION when he could have gone down, had it inspected as an ***embled vehicle AND HAD A ***LE IN THE MAIL
You can 'junk', or you used to, a car here too. Gimpy would be able to elaborate on this. But it is not an end all. Brother was tired of his Peugeot so he got a junk ***le from DMV and then dumped it off at the nearest pick-n-pull. But that wasn't very permanent. About a year later I saw the same car(similar dents, hood issue, and a few other things) rolling around the area.
He screwed up, plain and simple. Sounds like he knew there were issues but wanted to do things his way. All he has to do is follow the rules, he chooses instead to fight them. We have "junk" ***les here. When the salvage yard takes a car in for parts it has the ***le branded "junk" and cannot be brought back to life on that ***le because too much car has been destroyed/sold for parts and the integrity of the car is lost. You can get a new ***le by following the rules. Not the original one like this guy wants but that's his problem. SPark
Reading though this it seems that his main issue is that he doesn't want to have the car inspected and branded "previously salvage" State law is pretty clear and simple. https://dmv.nebraska.gov/dvr/***le/motor-vehicles-salvage-***les The bad part is that if he is like 90 % of us here on the HAMB he has pretty full do***entation on the rebuild. Receipts, Photos of the replacement parts when he bought them at the swap meet in the vendor's space, photos of the full rebuild process with the replacement parts.
