So, I know of this WCFB layin' around. I know zip about them. I figure they might be OK on a small displacement sbc or on the Offy intake for the flathead. rebuilders/ kits? thoughts? thanks
I've used several, and they work fine. As you guessed, most of them flow in the 375-400cfm range, which is just right for street flatheads. Plus, they look better on a flathead in an old looking rod than a Holley.
If you are lucky and have the earlier small base type, you simply turn it around backwards to get a direct linkage hook up on the flatty. The wider bolt pattern will need an adapter. If the carb still has the triangular metal ID tag, that is all you need to get a rebuild kit from most any good parts house.
We had so many problems with ours leaking gas on the 409- we swapped them for 2 Edelbrock 650's and the car dropped 15 degrees.
all I know from experience is if you use them for other than what you mentioned, you get an ear piercing shrieking whistle from the little "channels" underneath not being flush with intake or something like that.
