Here's a few more pics... We removed the ugly red from the tank... Made a little extension on the tank to mount it in the rear too, so it won't pup up when taking some bumps (hard to see in the pics)... We've been trying out some different things.. For example: We put on different bars.. These are old Sportster ones which we kinda de-swept and lowered 1,5 inches... It gives the bike the kind of old skool dragracer look which SamIyam was talkin' about... We made some fairings on the oiltank mounting brackets... I'll need 'em... These bikes shake like hell! My buddy once lost his oiltank, it broke off... Won't happen with this one, it's tight as hell! It'll also be connected to a small chain guard which we're gonna make... That'll keep me from getting all greasy... The seat springs are tightened on the bottom now too. We made some mounting points... We changed the footrests and put on some white rubbers... I also installed my Beck grips losely, just to see what it looks like.. Later! Maurice... P.s. We couldn't roll it out to make some good side shots, because IT RAINED AGAIN! The neighbour from across the street came by too...
Those bars blend in with the look of the rest of the bike. The first set looked a little contemporary. I like everything except the White rubber. My $00.o2
Haha! I knew it! "What about the spike?" Well... I'm gonna remove it... I'm sure people are gonna say stuff like: "You're kissing people ass" and "bullshit afterwards" and stuff like that... I don't give a s#*t... It's was the same as trying out these other bars... Just looking at different stuff... I just happend to be at this place where they had this fence stuff and I thought like, "hey, let's try it out". You all haven't seen the bike from the side, from a little distance... I have, and I think it's disturbing the lines of the frame, at the bottom... And somehow in combintation with the front tire/wheel and everything, the fence poker doesn't look good...
Cool bike. Dont you think the seat springs are a little short? Sure looks nice but Im not sure how you will be able to stay on the seat when riding. I have something similar on my 50 Tbird only with longer springs. Cant count the times Ive got pinched in the ass when the seat bottoms out when hitting a bump in the road. Then again I have a stock rigid frame so its a different setup than yours, so it might work just fine for you.
white grips and pegs are a bitch to keep clean, look totally bitchin and retro but you need stock in wesley's to keep it nice, ride it or wash it, your choice
SIDE SHOT! SIDE SHOT! SIDE SHOT! That thing is looking more and more bitchen' the more you work on it. Your keen sense of what will work with your combo is going to make this a kick ass bike... Keep up the good work! Sam!
Paul
I caught shit for ripping into a poor guy from Belgium a few days ago (I'm an ass) I didnt have the heart to tell him I was Dutch!

[/ QUOTE ] Well at least you're not stupid... or a puppetmaster, like I am... shit, I STILL don't even know what one is! To keep this thread on topic... I have to ask this question... do you guys know of a messageboard that deals with Triumphs? Not stockers or flat trackers, but cool ass chops and bobs. Personally I really dig it that we can post stuff here on the HAMB... I just hope that it doesn't get too out of hand for the hard core traditional hot rodders. (I'm serious) Sam!

Hey Maurice, this is the thread Sam and Kees are referring to : http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB1&Number=289041&Forum=All_Forums&Words=2543&Match=Username&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=286584&Search=true#Post289041 wonder why they didn't post the link themselves. Anyway, I've been nicely asked to give it a rest so I will, I had my fun anyway. Just one more thing though, the gentleman Sam refers to in his signature doesn't live here anymore, he said something about "making it abroad", we all had a good laugh, he didn't think it was funny and left, after wich we never saw Jean-Claude again.
Haha! You crazy Dutchies! Hey Sam... I totally agree with you... I'm very happy that we can post our stuff on bikes here... But, just like you, I think it shouldn't get out of control, and I really hope Ryan doesn't mind us posting some chopper stuff every now and then... At least we're building somethin! BTW... In my eyes, these old skool choppers go hand in hand with traditional rods & customs... But that's just my 2 cents... Christian... Heb je nog iets aan de velg gehad van Four Aces? Hey Gooch... Don't know if I'm gonna make it to Paso this year, but I'll be probably over in July for my buddies wedding, and I'm already making plans again for the HRR! Late! Maurice...
Hey Christian... A lot of talk in that little link... I had a good laugh on Ryan's little story though! Haha... with the "test tasting American ass" thing! That one cracked me up! Something like that happened to me in Wendover, during Speedweek 2002... I got to see quite some of the racing though.. I can tell you a few good stories about that subject too! But.... I think I'm goin' O/T here...
hightest, I went to that site and it said something about joining to get to see the board. Is it one of those sites where you have to sell your soul and then they send you six thousand e-mails a day? Or once you join, is it possible to just log on and post? Thanks, Sam!
once you've joined you can set up your preferences so that you aren't bombarded with email or 'daily digests'.
Maurice, ik ben er even mee aan het wachten, dit weekend een swapmeet in de buurt (Wieze, altijd veel hollanders daar) misschien vindt ik daar wel iets, anders de Rogues show; ga jij daar naartoe? 7-8 febr (B) Moto Retro Wieze Motorbeurs met special over "The early racing years - Harley vs. Indian" Oktoberhallen, Wieze, België 9.30 17.30 uur Entree ? 7,50 Kinderen tot 12 jr gratis Tel. 00 32 - (0)2 38 10 887
Sam, I've found several "decent" sites for chops and Bobbers. I don't really think it's a problem here tho. Perhaps Ryan could give us his Ruling? Seems to me that these bikes are "traditional" as can be! Maurice's IS! I'm working on a Harley Shovel Bobber style bike myself. I'd like to see more of this stuff here, as long as it fits into our Trad style.
bike looks real nice. i have a triumph project in the garage, but i dont know shit about motorcycles. i do know that i ended up with a bsa rear wheel, that i need to find brake and axle for. what engine are you going to go with? im trying to decide what to run in mine. trey
I got a couple more questions... since I'm, uh, stupid. Where can you buy tires for these old chops and bobs? Does anyone have any link with pics? Coker tire seems to have a limited selection of 16" and 21" tires... I'm thinking about an 18" rear tire... but it would have to be the *right* tire and wheel combo... as most of the ones I've seen are too narrow. BTW, what rim widths and tire sizes are popular? Next question, how many spots does a unit motor mount in? I have my frame and front wheel, rear fender and tank... but the motor is still at my friends house. I know they have that front mount and the one in the rear on the transmission... but isn't there one underneath also? Thanks guys, Sam!
Avon has pretty much any motorcycle tire you could think of. My bike is gonna have a 19" in the front and 16" in rear
Trey... I'm running a 750, with an aftermarket cilinder and pistons, and a 650 head... With a 4spd instead of a 5spd... Strange combo, but goes like hell!! Sam... Did you ever get my e-mail, about the frame and tire 'n stuff?? Christian... Sorry, effe geen show/swapmeets voor mij... Ik heb eigenlijk alles wat ik nodig heb, zit krap bij kas en ben super druk met het bouwen...
