I have a buddy that is trying to retrofit a/c in a 69 Chevy p/u for his kid. He has it narrowed down to these 2 companies. I don't know much about Old Air Products. What's your take?

Why doesn't he try to just get the factory ac stuff for that truck? I have several buddies that do own or have owned those style of trucks and the factory ac setups seem to work the best compared to the aftermarket stuff.

But thats just my opinion. Or did his truck not have ac originally?

throw the factory stuff in the trash and get vintage air for your truck.it all fits behind the dash and works far better than the factory did.

Just put a Vintage kit in my truck. It blows colder than the old lady's Tahoe. (that sounded weird) Best part, it was easy to install.

I've had 3 Vintage Air systems so far.........The one in my truck has a warranty that expires on the 16th of June, a 3 year warranty. The system just shut down on me last Friday. Turns out a plug for one of the relays got hot enough to cook itself. repaired tohe problem temporarily with a couple of spades. Called them. The don't have just the plug, just whole harnesses. When I asked whdn the warranty expires ( to point out it is still under warranty) he told me to pull the old harness and sent it to them, after they inspect it they'll send a replacement. Right! It's a 110 here, I'm not driving around without air now while they "inspect it". Thought they were better than that........I'll remember this when the time comes to put AC in my 47.

There was a good thread a while ago about a shoebox installation. Some bad and some good about Old Air. I used Old Air in my shoebox because of the way it fit without a lot of modifications to the firewall and dash. It works great and I had good luck with technical help from them whenever needed.

Had a Vintage Air in the 36 for over two years and no problems. The Old Air products look like they are just as good. I have seem them at Decatur for sale (New).

I installed an Old Air Hurricane system in a 68 F100 last week, kit was complete, all the brackets lined up and looked to be well made with good welds, wiring was good quality, comp looked like a chi-com copy of a Denso unit, underdash unit is small but cools the truck down pretty quick. I added an aux elect fan for the condensor and would recomend this be part of the kit.

The power of the HAMB! Got a PM and a phone call from Walt at Vintage Air today, regarding my post of yesterday. A new harness is on it's way. Yup, I'll buy Vintage Air for the 47 when it's ready.

Walt's a stand-up guy. But I still wonder why you'd gauge whether or not you'd buy another VA unit based on a wiring warranty that, supposedly, you were able to fix yourself?

Since Vintage Air is reading this post........Please spend some time looking at the ergonomics on your switches. I liked the majority of the system I had, but it sure seemed like the knobs and sliders were cheesey. Especially for a daily.

Glad they took care of you. I have many VA Gen II systems and have had to send the evaporators back for repair on every system after the warranty period ( and during) as they have some non replaceable parts fail and the foam seals are low quality and degrade in the desert dryness and blow out the vents. I have also replaced most of the control panels and have had heat valve probelms with most to the point of having to put in a cut off ball valve. They have warrantied some stuff but the dealer usually has to fight with them.

I have only one Old Air System and it had a leaking heater core from the start. No other problem so far

Part of living in the desert!

I have yet to have a trouble free system through the warranty period.

RF, I made it work with spades to make sure that was the only problem. to correct the problem, I'll install their harness. This is the first problem I've had with any of the three systems I've bought to date.
