I am close to getting my tri power ready for installation on my SBC. I am running a set of 60's Pontiac Rochesters, and plan to us a progressive linkage. I am interested in knowing where anyone bought their linkage, or linkage components? I have been told that it is best to use the bearing style linkage, to keep from binding. Any info here would be great, this is my first experience with a tri power set up, and I am trying to minimize my headache. If anyone has a linkage set up for sale that would work with my carbs, I may be interested also. Thanks in advance - Joe
I made my linkage with heims,I used all primary carbs so i ran a rod from the 1st & last carb down low. Then used the center carb to pull with a cable & ran a short rod to the front carb on top with the rod going thru a tube & a collar in front & behind the tube with a space in the front. When you step on the gas it lets the center one open till the collar reaches the tube the it opens the other 2!! I tried posting a picture but its too big, i'll e-mail it to you. jimV

Jimv's set-up is similar to what my buddy ran on his small block Ford tri-power set-up, and it worked well. (He also made his linkage with steel rods and heim joints.)
I made it out of tubing to resemble the early 60's Ford fuel manifolds. 3/4 tubing with the end welded shut. 5/16 steel tubing for the nipples...a little fileing and some powder coating. Thanks for noticing.
That is quite classy, Tommy. I really like seeing well-done home-made stuff. Especially something like your fuel log that looks factory, but ain't....
Thanks alot for the pics, that will help me out alot. I too really like the fuel line set-up Tommy, I plan to do something of a similar nature to mine. -Joe
[ QUOTE ] where can you buy the little linkage arms on the carbs? [/ QUOTE ]It is so easy to make, why consider spending your money?
http://www.hotrodcarbs.com/ Check this place out. I used their stuff on my Roch tri power on my '32. fab's got it now and I'm sure you could check it out if ya asked real nice
I pick them up at flea markets. Somebody always has them on a card with a rod to connect 2 carbs. together. Most any supplier that carries flathead speed parts will have them. thanks for the compliment Jay. Like my tag line implies 99% of the people don't see the details. It's the one percent that do that make it all worth the effort.
ok here is my input to this linkage question check out this guys site the carbs aren't correct but he did a damn good job imho http://www.quickercad.com/falcon/63Falcon200-mocklink.html and here is the linkage to the main site http://www.quickercad.com/falcon/63Falcon200.html Garth
The only thing is JimV, with your setup the front and rear carbs wont be opening all the way at full throttle, will they?
Kartbreaker, Charlie Price at Vintage speed ??Vintagespeed.com??? If you look through his website there are great pictures and all the extended arms for the butterfly plates, linkages, stoppers, etc. You can also get the progressive linkage from speedway, around $50 I think TZ
[ QUOTE ] The only thing is JimV, with your setup the front and rear carbs wont be opening all the way at full throttle, will they? [/ QUOTE ] Depends upon the points where the linkage connects to the arm on the 1st and 3rd carbs when compared to the location on the arm of the middle carb.
I used a hole in the front carb that is lower in the arm so its a smaller arc it has to move. They do open all the way. jimV
