The flatbed that came on my truck origionally came from a Ford truck... This is the first one I have seen with the ford logo raised in the rear rail. It says "Ford Truck" I plan on chopping this one up to make about a 4" long bed, but before I do, I want to make sure I dont mess up something someone else might want... If I use it, I will either cut out the Ford part and just put "Truck" on the back..... Or.. Switch some letters out, and a little splice here and there, and I get "Fuck Ford" on the back of my bed...(Chevy truck)...
Theres a guy up here that has great pride in the Ford script Flat beds he has. Some guys like them. Dont know what they are worth. Probably worth it for you to do some research on it before you Fuck Ford it. Remember you got a Chevy because the Ford trucks are 3 times the price
Do Some Research And Find Someone Who Wants It ... I Looked For A Ford Script Bed A Lil While Back, Found 1 In Sad Shape With No Wood For $450.00. I Have Never Seen One That Says "ford Truck" .... Only Ones That Say "ford" How Long & Wide Is This Bed ?? What Kinda Shape Is It In ??
my buddy has one that just says "Ford" on the back of his 54 and there is one across the street from me rotting away in the field on the back of a 56 Ford truck. personaly i'd sell the damn thing. i bed you could get some rediculous money for it (concidering what it is).
This bed is 6'x8'.... The frame was stretched about 2 feet so they could fit this bed on They even spliced two torque tubes together.... It was probably done sometime in the late 40's or early 50's since this truck has been parked since 1968, and it looks like this truck got quite a bit of use with this bed on it..... In the last picture, you can see the added frame piece.. It is the lighter colored part from just behind the front spring perch, foreward to just in front of where the running board starts..... That spring mount should be under the corner of the cab.......
Guess it's a safe bet you don't know what the engine dust pan fits that is in the pile of tin. That's a money maker to the right guy. The Ford Truck script bed could be TT truck, I've seen photos of them but can't find them just now. I'd take the money it will bring rather than cutting it up.
When I ran a antique car wrecking yard we had 8-10 flatbed Fords from 1936-52.At least six of them had the Ford logo.No big deal in my book.Besides ain't a whole lotta guys restoring flatbeds.
Yeah. Had a half ton here for a while with the Ford bed, it was a factory option - but "Ford Truck" must be early. You can get the newer ones easy enough, I'd at least find out what it's worth before I cut into it.
If It was on this side of the country I know my buddy would want the one you have for his restored 39 1 ton. Northern classics reproduces the beds, we need one. Been looking for a while, inquired if they would sell just the iron, got rude with me. (gotta sawmill and woods, why would I buy hardwood lumber?) I say sell the original and custom make a bed and logo it "chevy truck" "powerwagon" whatever. That's out next step, get "Ford Truck" in script on paper, cut out and transfer to 1/4" plate and jigsaw it. I think mig it to the new bed rails, grind and sand, touch up with filler, scroo that 3thousand for a store bought logo.
If you want, I could at least take some better pictures of the script that you can enlarge to whatever size you need for a patern.... I could also take some detail shots of the bed.....
