Big window Halibrand 16x10 magnesium wheels.

When did they appear on the scene? The first year? Wheel historians speak up.

A pretty reliable source of Halibrand history can be found on Dave Manns' site
    Roadsters.com
I think the early 16x10 in. Speedway Special is what you may be referring to.
I want to say about 1962 (ish), the real big window version is the Sprint, they were a little later, not sure of the timeline though.

Regarding the Halibrand timeline; which I haven't pinned down yet.
I can't say for sure because many of the early cars kept their small window Halibrands even after the big widow versions were introduced.
Maybe @Dean Lowe can fill in the blanks, he was there.

I can't nail down when the big windows went into production. The first I remember seeing them was around '67. Yes, I kept my small windows until the end. I worked 6 months at Dad's shop deburing parts to earn enough money to pay for them! I loved them, took 6 months to get the last black Semichrome stains off my fingers.

I would love to have a set of small windows, but I am not that picky. I do have a set of big windows on the Fly that I bought from a guy for $250.

  8. A friend had a set of the "speedway specials" in 16x10 in '63.

I like this Sprint Style, those would be perfect on my coupe. Does anyone know if they made it in 15x10 or 15x11 with a 4-3/4 bolt pattern? Is there anyone who specializes in these with whom I could inquire? Thanks, Joel

If you want to drive it on the street then these would be your best bet. Vintage Halibrands are both spendy and fragile (to a degree--after 40 plus years of ageing)

    Wow, brand new "Bear Paws"!
They are some of the coolest to come from American wheels.
I think the first set I ever saw (Hot Rod) were on Mickey Thompsons' Mustang F/C about 1970.
    Hey @racer-x check these out.

  13. Those are cool. I have a friend that needs them. Send a PM on a price. Need a bolt pattern to.
    Those would polish up nice.

That's me! I have to do further research on the availability of dot approved slicks in 16". Bob, I'll give you a call.
