Also puts people in the seats. I am NOT arguing to run slower to put people in the seats, just that it's not a bad thing when one hopes to keep this kind of racing feasible going forward.

This has been a great thread.

Put enderle injection on it, built a new smaller ci big block Chevy, and added 260lb of ballast weight on the car to drop to B gas. Also the car got lettered up and looks finished now. Finally got to run this weekend at steel in motion. Car did really well for the first time out with no testing or anything with the new setup. Ran great, car worked well, and qualified 5th and made it through first round. With a little tuning I think we’ll be able to go rounds this year!

Zak is being modest, this car ran SUPER for first time out with a new set up. Not sure how many here follow the SEGA B/Gas class but to qualify #5 is not easy to do.

Do the SEGA race for time or just to the finish line. Wondering what are the times run in the gasser classes? My B/Gas '55 ran 10.80s at 129 in '67. 427, Muncie, and Pontiac rear axle.I bet the times are quite quicker and faster now.

Fogger, first to the finish line. Times only used for qualifying and maybe
    braggin' rights!

to be competitive in B/G you need to be deep into the 9's (if you convert 1/8 mile ET to 1/4 mile ET). SEGA races first to the line, time slips are just information for the driver. With competition being so tight, sometimes the slower car wins if the driver can cut a good light - which isn't easy to do on a pro tree.

Yeah he’s correct. We do qualify off of times and ets are given to the driver but it’s first to the finish line wins, just like nhra pro stock or etc. you can win on a holeshot.

Scott, I built the Chevy as a bracket car, before the '67 Winter Nationals we had to move the front axle back to stock '55 wheelbase. Here are a couple of shots of the car. IMG_3534-1.jpg stevesgasser011.jpg

Zak, It looks like you have one valve cover covering another one. Or, is a spacer?

BadgeZ28, it's a spacer - you can't run tall valve covers as they are not period correct for the era that the Southeast Gassers run. If you want you can modify valve covers by welding spacers to them, but the weld must be left exposed.

Had a huge field of B gas cars. Tuned on the injection some and didn’t qualify real well, only 11th our of a 30 car field, but we won first and second round, and the freebird chevy II barely got around me on the top end I. The third round. Not a bad first outing in B gas, especially after breaking my big toe Wednesday and driving hurt. Lol

  25. Toe? Damn that hurts like hell, ask me how I know. Good job on the runs. The car looks great!

Just waking up concerning Southeastern Gasser. You did a good job on that Homegrown Chevy. My neighbor Gary Smith has a car named Chicken Bone, he had a pretty bad wreck last year but he has his car back together. Im thinking about going up to Mooresville NC on June 27.

I saw Gary's wreck on YouTube. That could have turned out so much worse for him. He is very fortunate to have walked away from that. I bet he was hurting really badly in the days right after the wreck.

Yeah, I think he had some issues blacking out or something after the wreck for a short time but he is a tough feller and has his car back together.Said he hit wall at probably 65 mph which probably dont seem like a lot considering the speed these cars can achieve but in reality , that is a pretty harsh impact.

We’re Nhra legal, which isn’t a major deal but it does make me feel good that something I built in the backyard is safe enough to pass Nhra certification!
