do posts get deleted for the reason of "chit chat" ??? isnt that what this board is all about?? and when someone is trying to sell something and you are vouching for its quality but adding a small joke with why isit grounds for being deleted??? these rules are getting a little strict
This is probably one of the most unstrict forums out there...We like to keep it real and to the point, but since it's deleted, I can't go back and read what you wrote. Hell, if the mods deleted it, it probably was chit chat. Bandwidth's a bitch.
i dont know why?? i was just asking ..im not mad it just seemed weird...i agree that this board is unstrict but this just seemed really odd and it seemes like they are tightening up..who knows
The main H.A.M.B. board is for chit chat. The classifieds are to sell stuff. Everytime you post small jokes it sends another H.A.M.B.'rs ad down the page and next thing you know, more guys chit chat and then the Mods get complaints about their ads going to page 4 quickly becuase of chit chat and not interest in buying stuff.. The rules clearly state that if you have interest in something being sold then inquire, if not, then PM the seller. Ryan and the Moderators have spent A LOT of time getting the classifieds to run what we consider smooth for sellers and buyers. Any other comments on this, you are more than welcome to PM Me. I am aware of the ad you are referring to and yea, I cleaned up some of the chit chat that was on there. I'll re-look at what I deleted in your post and if I missed you vouching for something, I'll consider reposting it. Those are the rules of the Classifieds, for some time now... On the HAMB ( where you posted this ), stuff gets Deleted for being Off Topic. I'll move it to the Q & S Forum to be nice...
The problems came in when guys would use chit-chat to bump their ads up constantly to keep their shit on top. Kinda hard to single out the guys who were doing that so they made an all-out ban on the chit chat stuff to keep guys from bumping thier ads or to keep their buddies from doing it for them. They generally only want you to post if you're interested in buying whatever's offered, but they seem to make exceptions if you have some info to add that's serious and solid. I liked BS'ing in the classifieds but I hated having my shit slip to page 97324 in 10 minutes from all the non-related chatter in the classifieds, so it's mostly a good thing.

Nope, things are just fine with Hellspawn and me. He inquired. I stated the rules of the classifieds and the chit chat is for the main H.A.M.B. page and he can PM me with anymore concerns. Plain and simple guys -15,000 members and growing by 100 + everyday. We try to keep pretty much all the ads clean, so that ALL H.A.M.B'rs with classifieds get GOOD exposer with out all the other stuff that takes up bandwidth. Reminder that this is FREE and it does cost to run it and so I think it is a good idea to keep chit chat to the main H.A.M.B board, and the classifieds to buying and selling stuff so we can continue to have it free as long as our leader Ryan says it will be. Hellspawn has a point. A damned good one. We all do it, I've done it recently without even realizing it. Does it make me a hypocrit (sp?) or just absent minded? It would be great if we could toss in our good words on a persons project with a little humor. This is one reason I wanted to try the no bump thing. You all remember early this year when someone posted an ad and there was no response allowed at all? It was a precursor to allowing responses back but the ad would sit where it was. Only I couldn't find a way to do it and damn near killed the classifieds. Sue me. So we as moderators walk that fine line between keeping things "fair and even" (like there ever was such a thing) and pissing people off. Trust me, we are more interested in the fair and even thing. It's just easier to piss people off. Another thing to keep in mind is that a person can add a little humor to a guys ad because he knows the guy. No big deal. The problem is the thousands of people who may read that ad after, the people who have no idea the two guys no each other and take the humor the wrong way. Then there's two things that happen. 1. The NewB's that haven't scent marked yet jump on what they think is a band wagon. 2. My inbox fills up rapidly. It's all fun and games and we're all here for a good time. So, long story short. Sorry if feathers get ruffled but no one should take it personally and always keep in mind that I have multiple personalities and they all know how to type....
