hey guys, anyone installed a manual temp gauge on a 472? The “dummy light” traces back to a spot on the block right under the a/c compressor I’d rather not take it all apart. Any other options? Thanks , Bryson

If your talking about a caddy block, there are 2 places. One under the a/c between the two heads. That is the actual temp sender spot. The other, in the front driver side head next to the p/s pump. That is the thermal vacuum switch (tvs.) That redirects ported vacuum to manifold vacuum at a certain temp which advances the timing to cool the engine temp. If your engine is in stock configuration, leave the tvs alone and replace the temp sender under the a/c compressor and run the wire to your gauge.

P.s.: you could remove the tvs and run manifold vacuum direct to the dizzy. I did this on my 500 with no problems. That would free up that spot for a temp sender.

I used the drivers side front port or TVS port for the temp gauge on the 472 in my 49 Buick.
