Kustom seats - cheap!

I was in a Walmart tonight and I noticed over in the furniture some chairs, I forget now what they called them of course (banana chair comes to mind, don't think it's right though).

Anyhow, here are these chairs, intended for a college dorm room or something, in bright red or black vinyl, and they reminded me of some of the seats that came in the old AMT 1/25th Kustomizing kits. Someone aught to be running 4 of them with a console in a custom, or a pair in a roadster. They're like $25 a chair - cheap enough you could buy a couple spares and just toss one if it gets ripped. Probably not hard to match the vinyl either.

It may or may not be the same chair, the shelf wasn't marked that well. Also, I don't see the knock your socks off red color listed on their website.

Anyways, I thought I'd post it up - they used to use kitchen chairs in some of the old show cars, this is the same kind of thing (check out the egg chair, it might work good in a car too). These are low enough, just add a seat track to the bottom and you'd be in business.

 

try sitting in one, they will kill your back. at least they did me. i thought they were cheap little chairs for gamers. really i think they are geared more for kids than adults. and quit buying crap at wal-mart, man.

 

Even if you just use them for back seats, they'd have the look.

They were like three rows over from the model kits, which no one else around here carries anymore - sometimes they blow out certain kits for $3 or so, so I always look around -

 

Comb the junk yard for old BMW 6 series rear seats, they have a similar profile, much sturdier. Also, Porsche 914 seats.

Fuck Walmart all they sell is crap made in China. They used to promote made in America products when Sam Walton was alive but not any more. Maybe they should change their name to CHINAMART. i'm just glad he didn't find where i stash the good model Kits. I stash them 4 rows over.

Yep -- Walmart sucks . . . but much like light-weight fuel efficient cars of the 60's . . . the lemmings dominate decisions and Walmart keeps raking it in. Sorry for the thread hi-jack . . . but it's unfortunate state of our country. We're letting it happen and no amount of reaction is going to stop it . . .

 

Walmart comes into town and next thing you know---POOF--all the little guys are out of business. Know why???? Cause Walmart can sell cheaper than all the little guys!!! It's easy to call WalMart shoppers lemmings, but that oversimplifies the issue. Inflation-adjusted wages for middle and lower class wage earners have been stagnant to declining over the last 30 years. The last few years have been worse, with the poverty rates increasing for 5 consecutive years. It's pretty tough to stay out of WalMart when everything but your paycheck is going up.

Sorry for the ramble. Nice tip on the seats if they fit your back. They're built with padding over plywood, though, and won't provide a cushy ride.

 

God damnit people he was just sharing his idea about a crappy chair being used in a car. It wouldn't fucken work because those chairs are junk and are meant to lean way back but still, just because he's never tried sitting in one isn't a big deal. He was just sharing what he thought was a decent idea.

Besides...last weeks sales ads for TARGET showed a cooler seat with built in speakers and subwoofer...
