I am fairly sure that that IS a flathead blower.... I think it came complete with strombergs and the flattie manifold.... He won't have to cut it up....I think.....
Blown Bentley style mounting was the first thing I thought of too. This one is owned by Ralph Lauren...
Bored and Stroked....yeh that would be the best way by far. Thing is I don't know anybody that good with a mill and to have it done would cost more than what I have in the blower. Mcgrath...I saw this thing at Hershey a couple of years ago...Loved the blower!! My first thought was to build a car with no hood and have it out there in all its glory. Sam got me thinking. Bville is more my style. I'm thinking a full hooded car with some sorta swoopy nose with this thing hanging 3/4 out of it. It would really have some heads scratching. It would be sick if Chip Foose had it on that v12 of his. Not to mention the shaft coming out of the front would poke through that nosecone for a propeller Clark
Build the "So-What" car that "Chris Ito?" drew as a concept a few years ago for you for an auction. I think that was you, I tried to find pix on this computer but they must be on a different computer. Chris Nelson Kansas
Chris...The bubbletop is gonna get started this fall. I've pissed around way too long on that one. The blower really deserves a car where it is the center of attention. Not sure when I could get to a car for this blower but it does have my mind racing. Hell I have a 34 roadster in the works too. The roadster has to be done to make the trip to Bville next year. I've got a lot to do!!! BTW ...Ito helped me out with a drawing for the 34 too. He is great to work with!! Clark
Wow...........the 34' looks outstanding.........I sure wish "Ito" would post here more often and blow the new guys away. Chris Nelson Kansas Oh yea, with your grille shell idea........it has my dads marbles rolling in his head. He wants to run one with his 34' Ford Sedan delivery that he drug out after 30 years in the hiding.
Chris...34 sedan del.???? VERY COOL!!!!!! Ito is a great one and very down to earth. I got to meet him for the first time in Detroit then again in Austin. I think he's a very busy guy. Now I'll have to post that pic on it's own thread. Clark
When I had seen the other thread, it never occured to me that it was a front mount! Very wild setup, I agree with everyone else that it needs to be sticking out front for the world to see. Can I beg you for a bunch of reference pictures? Anything you want to take would be great! I've never seen that setup for a flathead before...
Mojo..what kind of pics you want? I put a shitload up on the other post. Maybe a breakdown of the crankdrive would be cool. I just wish I could find a pic of one on a motor! Clark
I've never, ever seen one on a motor before, never knew someone made one! Pics.. just some general side and end views of the blower and that adapter, something that I can maybe measure from for model building. I'll hunt down that other post again. Thanks in advance!
Stank...thanks for the link. Looks like they could build the timing chain cover. Nice pics!! but still no Scot crank driven like I have.. Clark
Yes......Yes......Yes!!!!! A '27 Roadster would be perfect.......run the '32 shell with mesh insert and rule the world.
Asshat question for y'all: how long do you have to crank one of these mother****s on a cold start? That fuel has a nasty uphill run to make to get into a cylinder for the initial firing, and it won't all evaporate nicely when the blower case and piping is stone cold. Or do you use a little ether in the injector to cheat it for the first crank? -bill
CLARK Any progress ? I have started digging into my stash of old "Hot Rod" related magazines with a hope to find something simmilar as what you have in mind , but I have had no luck yet ...Anyways .. I will keep lookin` Please keep us posted .. Klaz
Klaz...I just got word that this truely is a front mounted blower for a flathead. From what I was told is that it was made for a car Italmeccanica made with a Ford flathead in it. There was only about 10 cars made. Not sure how many of the blowers were made but the only other one known in the US is owned by Don Ferguson. Anybody know Don?? The down side is I found out the plenum was very cool and ornate.....and I don't have it. I still haven't seen pics but this came from the best of sources. Clark
Is Don in Brentwood? I seem to have found a number, kinda' like I found Don Orosco's number and chatted with him for about an hour. Chris Nelson Kansas Oh yea, I saw this the other day on the web...... http://www.uncommonengineering.com/catalog.html
http://allshops.org/community/CommunityAlbum/Thumbs/9980114696543.jpg this is (I believe) the missing link you're looking for...taken from the nitro geezers website in a section about potvin blowers...
Use a couple ancient Harley Davidson sidedrafts to accomplish the same thing with a bit more technical accuracy...that would be cool. ~Scotch~
