Well lets see.... many, many moons ago... Oh yeah, wait, it was the spring of 1985 (a junior in high school) and I meet her on a blind date. The only way that a car was involved was the fact that we went to the drive in. (remember those things??) We just celebrated our 17th wedding aniversary by going to Detroit billetproof.

NO WAY I'd ever trade her in!!!!!

My wife and I were the result of a blind date. We were set up by the wife of a friend of mine who was in a college class with my not then wife. I was friends with the a group of developers who were trying to put in a IRP or Texas Motorplex level drag strip in the Dayton, OH area and my not then wife lived a mile from that site and was against it. After meeting me and dating me for about a month she was for it and me. She got me but not the track. We've been together for over 12 years and married over 8 years. To this day she still questions whether she really won.

nah; not the great mississippi/missouri river floods of 93 & 95. the fairgrounds at louisville flooded and got a bunch of cars wet. i mean wet up over the engines/interiors/etc.

    i think it was '94.

the flood stories of the nats that year would make another good thread.

My last wife and the mother to my 2 sons died in my arms April 12, 1984. I had the boys to raise then 6 and 4. I was reading the ads in "Harbor Singles" and had met quite a few loosers so I wrote my own Ad and Carol answered it and wanted to just be pen pals for a while since she had met so many unsavory guys. On Labor Day she finally stopped by the house and invited the boys and I out to meet her family and have Dinner. We have been together every since. Right after I met her I gave up Drugs and Alcohol and we have made a decent life together for almost 23 years. Gumpa

My wife sharked me on a game of pool. And then later on took care of me when I was drunk/drugged beyond comprehension. Rough times made better thru her.

Cars I inherited from my pops.

Cops were first introduced to me when a couple of older neighborhood kids convinced my dumb 4 year-old ass it would be a nifty idea to break the window of my neighbors Porsche.

I met her on the day before my first day at college. We were buddies as freshmen and then she transferred schools. We stayed in touch and I (louse that I am) stole her away from her high school boyfriend.

I knew she was the one for a lot of reasons, one of which was she told me upon first riding in my car that if I ever sold it, she'd kill me.

We're coming up on a year in September and when she cheerfully went to Billetproof Detroit, I congratulated myself on my good decision making skills.

  18. Sad to say, but in my high-school days (late 80's), my 64 1/2 Mustang got me all kinds of tail. Girls just knew who I was 'cause of the car. Got introduced to the cops 'cause of this car too...speeding, exhibition of speed, noise pollution

My Chevy's the same way...I'm surprised how many girls wanna be the "first" to get it on the hood.

no cops... no cars......went to a lions club silent auction / mexican food dinner with a gal i had been dating for a couple of weeks. The local spanish teacher and her students were serving dinner and were the entertainment. She and her kids were doing the macarena. :D I was thinking the whole time " I wish i was here with the spanish teacher". Went home that night and dumped the gal I took to the auction. I had decided I was going to die a bacholer living with two big smelly dogs. Two weeks later one of my patients called and asked if I would warm a seat at a boy scout banquet. I said sure. Patient called back 5 minutes later and asked if I was dating anyone. A small town of 4 thousand...he knew I wasn't dating....he hung up before i could tell him "no...and i don't want to be dating anyone." He called back 5 minutes after that and said " her name is Kristie...she's a teacher"... Ended up it was the spanish teacher..... we were engaged 2 months later....

We are both firefighters. Met her at a big brush fire. Things got hairy at one point. The wind turned and the other crews ran out except our crew and this one girl from another Engine. She stayed with us on our line and worked the rest of the fire with us. She earned my respect that day. My old Captain (which was now her Captain) kept saying she's the one for you - I just kept shrugging it off. I called her at her station a while later and we decided to go running when we got off duty in the morning. We have been inseperable ever since. We have been together for almost 4 years now and are getting married this July 1st!!!!

  24. I had been on my own for about a year after splitting from my ex, living single and keeping it simple. Therapy I guess, just concentrating on getting my car to the Supernationals. Did it and it rained all weekend, pretty crap weekend really so looked at what was on and found another show the following weekend that was the opposite end of the country from where I was living. That,ll do says I so off I set. 8 and a half hours later I,m there, know nobody, no idea where I was and it was raining again. Met Tarnya 3 hours after arriving. Cute caravan says I, nice arse thinks she. We celebrated 2 years of marriage this very week.

2 yrs ago i was coming home getting hungry stopped by a mcdonalds that was out of the way. stopped in and there she was. her hood was up and she was walking back to her car after asking a strange looking middle aged man for a jump start. i am sure he would be more than willing to jump start her, and her car. so i steppped in and asked if i could help. i did and the rest is history. trying to get her a hot rod now and ditch the old '89 acura legend.

I met my wife one night when I was trying to bang her sister. I made the right choice between the two, we've been married for 17 years now. her sister has been married twice and is working on her second divorce now...

Cops? First run-in I can remember was getting busted with three pick-up trucks and an El Camino loaded full of Pumpkins my buddies and I had stolen on Halloween night. The Cop let us go on the condition that we didn't dump them in town somewhere. We started dumping them out of the trucks at the city limit sign and pretty much covered a mile of highway with busted pumpkins. It even made the News the next day...:D

  28. The Mrs: I met her in Taipei while visiting the home office of the company I worked for. I'd talked to her on the phone, and read her faxes but never seen her face-to-face. If you ever read the Godfather book where Corleone is hiding out in Sicily, and is hit by the 'thunderbolt', well, that shit's for real. And I'm only a quarter Sicilian... I flew back to Seattle and told the girl I'd been seeing that she could fuck off. Now we've been married for damn near sixteen years.

The cars: Always seem to see 'em sitting on the side of the road. Sometimes they got a sign, sometimes not.

The cops: I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that it might incriminate myself.

We met at my promotion party (I was iin the Army and she worked on post).

She had a blue '70 Monte Carlo that I helped her clean up one weekend -- compound, wax, toothbrush and Lava on the white vinyl top, etc.

    The next week she traded it for a silver '74 (with an AM/8-track stereo system:cool: :rolleyes: ) {Captain who owned car had been RIF'ed (sent home with a sincere "thank you" and don't let door . . .:mad: ) and needed to cut expenses}

That's the car we drove away from the church a year later:cool:

Has it really been 30 years?

Youngest son just left for college. The old roost is kinda quiet.
