Just stayed in a place in Bennington, Vt. that used numbers cut out of old license plates. We had a red on white, 1 and a yellow 8 on blue.
From a time when hotel rooms had actual keys! I stayed in a BnB near Jacksonville a couple years back that had actual keys, it was the first time in a while. Having been a frequent traveler much of my career, I've come to despise those magnetic card keys. I get two as it seems one always stops working during my stay. The latest gimmick is opening your room with your smartphone. Give me a key any day!
HRP, now I'll have to keep an eye out for those motel room key fobs. People bring in brass keys to the scrapyard where I work, sometimes with fobs. Any motel ones come in they're yours.
Danny when we visit from Aussie each year my wife takes a photo of room number outside before we enter, all have neat pictures check out the keys hanging in a motel in Fortuna CA
Now that's a collection, I'm just a novice at this game. I guess I could have had many more in my collection by now but I restricted myself to the 32 room numbers. HRP
Rooms by the hour? I guess that's for a quick sleeper! Sent from my Pixel 3a XL using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
That’s from St.Louis! I remember that place. It was a beautiful 1930’s era Art Deco place that had a garage with each room for your car. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I used to have a pretty large collection of room keys. Kept them as trophies. Lost them in the divorce.
Someday, you're going to set down your key and a helpful soul will drop it into the nearest mailbox. When it reaches the postal authorities the resulting time and velocity paradoxes will tear the entire universe to bits...
Yes but it is just a made up copy. Guy was selling a bunch of them with all kinds of crazy slogans and fake hotel names at a car show. At the time I owned a hearse and thought it would be a fitting key fob.
First and foremost I resent being called a thief! I have bought and paid for everyone of the fobs I own with the exception of 5 that I have received as gifts from family & friends. The remainder of the collection as been purchased legally over the last 20 years or so. I have found them at flee market's, swap meets and ebay. Hotel & Motel room keys & fobs are a thing of the past, the vast majority of the establishments have been using electronic key cards for many years. HRP
