Anyone have pictures of post war Willys G***ers?

Not Aero sedans and such, but the Utility line of pick ups, wagons, deliveries, or jeepsters.

I have a 58 pick up and a 56 wagon and the nose high look keeps crossing my mind. Although a set of spindle mount 12 spokes and a pair of pie crust slicks probably cost double the price of the truck!!

I have seen lots of 50's and 60's Ford pick ups set up g***er style, but don't recall seeing any post war Willys g***ers at the strip or car shows.

If you have pics, lets see em!

I don't think anyone really did that.

What kind of ***** would want to build a hot rod out of a post war Willys?  :D

Here's one that some nameless idiot is putting together.... Not a g***er, but weird just the same.

And YES Fiddy (before you make fun of me again)....the project is BACK ON. I'm taking next month to finish it. First thing I'll do is LOWER it. :D

Your truck is already lower than your car. You artist types, you're all out to lunch.

    :D

I think that thing is cool as ****. Very cartoony. It belongs in a monster painting. Maybe someone can put in on canvas? hmm, who would be good?

I photoshop lowered it 3" in that pic.

Its coming down at least 3" and then I'll finish it.

Its gonna be cool. I'm going to have two grills for it. One is the willys one in the pic and another one is a secret one...but it will totally change the look of the truck. I'll be able to switch them out whenever I want...thus having TWO trucks in one. ;) :D

But this thread is not about me.

.....Can anyone help this guy out?
Both he and I want to see some pics of post war Willys g***ers.

    Lets see them.

Oh yeah. Even if there are none. Man, you gotta build it. A jeep willys g***er would kick so much ***. I think everyone would love it.

People think they don't like the Jeep Willys trucks....but secretly they love them. :)

I bet if you looked in some sixties drag race magazines you'd find some. I wasn't around but grew up on stories and pictures in magazines from my dad. I do know that there were two stretched flat fender jeeps, the open military style, named "Destroyer" and "Secret Weapon".They built some odd **** in those days, for example, one of my favorites was the "Bronc Buster", which was a narrowed and stretched ford bronco.

I just want a 2WD open Jeep with wide white bias plies and paint the same color as Tingler's firewall (think jitney jeep only without all the extra **** hung on it). I love it because it would be the an***hesis of everything my Jeep owning friends stand for.

Plus, with as much aftermarket support as these things have, it would be a great beater that I wouldn't have to worry about. I'd just drive it everywhere with the windshield folded and to hell with keeping it clean.

  15. You must be reading my mind!

There is a guy here in town that has one for sale... I would have bought it, but I have to finish the three projects I have before I buy another.

You might be interested in it though...

It is a 1962 Flatfender Jeep... Dispatch Model... and, get this... it is an original 2 wheel drive!

I was going to lower it, run solids with caps and rings... WWW... baby blue, SBC with a manual trans.... and drive the **** out of it!

The pan was solid, no rust... a little rust on the sides... (easy fix)... runs but smokes... $1000

    Man...

    Sam.

    Post war Willys...
I think this would make a great g***er. Econoline front end with radiused rear wheel wells.

    But I'm weird.:D

Tingler, only someone from Tn. would use a Willys truck for hot rod material!!
It looks a hell of a lot better than the early pics with the ranger ch***is.

I've been to all the drag/g***er sites that I can think of and only turned up one pic of a somewhat cheesy race pick up and the cj's that y'all pointed out. My ideas don't look any better through bloodshot eyes.

Dave, Sam.....There is a guy that hits the local cruises here with a homade cj-2 that has a box tube 2wd ch***is, hand formed stainless body with contrasting brush and frosted surface treatments, with a warmed up 2.8 v6, dead simple, decent economy and rustproof.

Back to the g***er in my head, It would look something like this....

Tommy, I like the Aero's as well, they do make good g***ers or customs
My uncle built an Aero custom about 30 years ago, low down , lakes pipes and a custom grill. It was a nice little cruiser.
The Utility type Willys are a whole lot more available than the Aero's though.
