I we back up in the hills to drag the chevy 11 outta the barn that my cousin left me in his will,,, My son-in-law Cory and I fought red wasp for about an hour to get near the car and looked for snakes hiddin in the barn. The car had 4 flat tires,,,if you could call them tires Aaron(the owner of the car) had instaalled wheel locks on the car,,,so ya already figgured out that we had to drill and use a chisel to get them off,,,,and did I tell ya it's a fringin' 103 degrees today! We got the wheels off and loaded in the truck and went to the river to cool off,,,,so here are the photos,,,and bty the way,,,,,it is a 1963,,,,,we found a registration card in the dash,,,,HRP
Nice "dustina"... Looks real solid. That'll make a great ride someday. I read Chevy 11 and thought you were talking about a 1911 Chevy, not a Chevy II. You meant gasser era, not brasser era. Oops... my naughty.
That looks like too much work for ya', and ya' have to finish the wagon. Let me know how much ya' wanta' pay me to remove it from your yard. Actually, I've always liked that body style. One tried to kill me in 1990, but I survived.
Hate to tell ya, but I think it needs more than gas Nice. I have always like Chevy II's. Make a street clone of the Doug's Headers car.
You should ck out that " Wrecks to Riches " show. I think its on TLC. They did a Chevy II made it into a gasser. Very kool......
Oh what a beautiful blank canvas. Ever see the article where they stuffed a 365hp 327 Corvette mill into the '62 Nova ragtop? Very cool and it even seemed HAMB appropriate. After all, it was done when the car was new, so all the pieces were pre-'65! -Dave
Yeah--HRM, when your car was new--there was an alleged Chevy over the counter kit (which surely must have cost more than the Chevy II) that was essentially a complete rebuild of the car into a factory Corvette powered hotrod--very thorough kit, much more than just a swap. About the same time they featured an even more Corvette-ized II road racer with a fastback and Corvette rear suspension... The aftermarket was offering bolt-on funny car conversions that replaced the removable front structure these cars had (whole works just unbolts at the firewall!) with a tubular front chassis and straight axle... I think that "Need Gas" dates from the Iran gas price flap...you found it just in time for it to come back into style!
I didn't take a photo of the engine,,,but it has the vette valve covers,,,I need to get the numbers on the engine and find out just what I have,,, It has sat since 1985,,,I also discovered this morning that he had 13" tires on the front and 14" on the rear,,,HRP
hell its not a bad lookin old box. i'd probably fight bugs n creepy crawlies for it. Oh is that a chebby eleven or a chebbyII
I've had 4 chevy II's or Novas over the years. really enjoyed them. thinking about looking for a 66-67 wagon for the old lady to haul the grandkids around in
Very nice car,my damn ex just traded a 65 Chevy ll 100 series 2dr sedan for new gutters and downspouts. And it was one of 733 factory V8 cars built that year according to Chevy Archives. Damn I hate her lol.
Right, Bruce. There were actually two kits; one to install a basic 283/2bbl engine, and one to install a 327/360hp injected crate motor. Somewhere, I've got the GM part numbers for both kits. Funny thing, though---every time I try to send them in on the daily parts order where I work, the numbers come up invalid.
