I have seen 33,34 4 bangers called B"s,but have seen 34"s called C"s also.At best the B lasted 3 years may be just 1.....35 the 4 was gone.
B Model head had a raised C on it, but for 33, 34 ( I believe they were still available through to at least 41 as replacement items) were not denoted as a C by Ford, full oil to rod bearings and counter weighted crank, slightly higher compression, 3 bolt water pump and unique secondary bell housing bolt pattern, Others will add corrections or further info.
I know about the engine as I sold a rebuilt to standard along with two rebuilt trans a few years back. I just want to know about the official designation of the cars. What were the '33-34s designated as if they came with a 4 cylinder?
Depends what part of the world you're on. In Europe the Model B was produced till 1935 (maybe even 1936) with some updated like chromed grill shell and skirted front fenders after 1932. But ch***is and grill insert were all the same and to identified as a 32 Picture is my old 1934 Model B. Sold new in Holland with skirted fenders and small BF engine. Also framenumbers contined after 1932 as B5******
Ok that’s what I thought. The reason I asked is that I recently read a historical book that referenced a Ford Model B with photos of either ‘33/34 front fenders. I’ll have to email the author...LOL
Neat truck! The first thing I noticed was the stainless trim around the grill bars. I was under the impression that '32 commercial grills (at least U.S. models) didn't have trim around the grill bars. Am I wrong? As a matter of fact, I thought I was rather clever modifying '34 truck stainless to fit the '32 commercial grill on my old 'Sedan Deliv.
Yeah I know he said it's a 1934 (Euopean) Ford. The reason I asked the trim question is that is definitely a '32 comm. grill on his '34. It has a narrower side profile and no "lean back" like a '33-34
Sorry but you are wrong. This was originally a "English" bodied Tudor. If you look you don't see the door hinges as it had suïcide doors. The grill is a normal 32 p***enger grill and not a commercial grill.
My mistake. For some reason I thought that was a truck cowl and front end on the frame. Sorry. BUT WAIT A MINUTE...A Tudor sedan with suicide doors like a 3 window? Never knew anything like that existed.
Yes European Tudor and Fordor bodies were different from American bodies. They have suïcide doors and much more wood as structure. Also unique two glove dashboard without doors to cover it.
Thanks for the link. Those sedans are TOO COOL. I wonder how many made it to the U.S.? I've never seen one.
