I was going to post a pic of this on the Friday(or whatever day)Art Show but as the only thing I did was paint the numbers on it,I figured to make a separate post so you could see what a neat little car it is. Haven't got the history on it yet but what you see is all original except for the hood hold-down straps. It has a USAC tag on the instrument panel dated 1956.Crosley motor with twin carbs,Crosley trans and locked rear end.Brake master is frozen so it hasn't been driven yet but it sounds righteous! He doesn't if he's going to sell it yet or not.He has a shop full of vintage midget race cars in various stages of restoration(www.quartermidgetcl***ics.com).
Ya gotta luv those old midgets. Chris Economacki (sp?) was on Speed the other night talking about how racing got started in this country. The midget played in big role in bringing weekly racing to many cities at least on the east coast. Thanks for the post.
thanks for posting this...thats a neat little car i might be getting a job building a body for a midget soon this one has a v8-60 in it and all cut down ford running gear zach
Nice car Ray. It could use more of your fine work on it though. Here's a midget I snapped at Bowling Green last weekend. It's a cool rig, but a lousy photo, I thought I was about to get electrocuted in the rain.
Hey man looks prety rocking. If your ever down in Conway, SC I got some pretty cool dirt roads you can tear up with it.
Thanks for those images Safari. Midgets are another one of my many and varied p***ions. Great that you got to do some of your fine work on such a neat old race car. Geoff aka whodaky
What a super little racer. I've always wanted to find and restore one. I'd need one for each foot if I wanted to drive. Being a plus size cuts you out of some really neat experiences, and driving one of those would be a blast. Frank
Very cool. I've been thinking about building something similar to that, but trying to get it street legal. Probably use a motorcycle engine to power it. These pics might be what it takes to push me the rest of the way over that edge...
