I have a 30 roadster and a set of nice american stamping 32 rails. I know that if you don't want to you don't have to pinch 32 rails to make a 30-31 body fit. However, If I do decide to pinch them I'm not really sure how to. I have read many, many posts on here about putting A's on 32 rails....been trying to do some research to put my roadster body on the correct way...but in the threads I have read where guys say that they pinched their rails...they don't explain how it's done....and that's where I need help. Do I have to pie cut the inner portion or the rail then bend..? Do I heat and bend??...how is it done..? Also not 100% where to position the cowl on the rails...should I position the cowl on the stock 32 cowl mounts holes??..does anyone have a measurement where to cut/bend/heat the frame for pinching...any kind of help would be appreciated. Thank you...pics to come soon.... Jerry
I pinched and re-contoured mine to fit the body of my A coupe. It was just a matter of cutting the edges and tweaking to fit. No heat. Just measure, double check, and tack. I looked at a few pictures to help me decide where to place the body, but for the most part I just put things where I thought they looked good. To me thats hot rodding.
just read Moose' thread..killer work he did...looks like I'm going to have to break out the cut off wheel..thanks for the suggestions and help everyone...I'll be sure to put some pics up...it's a 30 roadster...32 rails...putting a caddy in it.
WAIT TILL IT AIN'T LOOKIN' AND GOOSE IT ON THE ***!!!! Sorry couldn't resist! Didn't Rod 'N' Custom do a tech article on this a FEW years ago?
