Slightly off topic... A set of factory knock-off wheels off a slightly OT corvette....Actually traded for a set of 15" rally wheels for the same car.I even threw in the from the factory brass hammer with the short little handle that rendered it useless. Hated those wheels! ....They could be worth a million bucks today and I wouldn't give a damn.

  2. I hear ya. I don't lament the fact that I gave away valuable stuff, its just that now its so hard to find parts that people who do not have a stash end up spending a hellava lot more than I ever could have done when starting out years ago. As long as a person is satisfied with what they get for something, be it money or joy of helping out someone else, then karma is happy.

  3. About 1970 someone gave me a Chevy factory dual 4 barrel manifold. It took really small carbs that I couldn't find.It hung on the wall in my dads garage until 1980.During a clean up I pitched it.Im sure some vette guy would love to have it.About 1971 some guy gave me a body that was built using a 32 Ford cabrolet cowl, and doors, and the back panel from either a 31,or 32 touring. It looked a lot like a 32 roadster PU cab.If nothing else it had usable body panels.Could have been a roadster PU for the right guy.I wasn't the right guy so several years later I gave it to a guy with more storage than I.I also sold the complete drive line...radiator to rear axle from a 4 cylinder 32 PU....for 200 bucks. I could go on ,and on,and on...…….I did manage to hold on to the 32 heavy front axle/wishbone when I street rodded my 32 PU.

A complete BMW Isetta ! Well, I didn’t give it away, my mother had it hauled off for scrap while I was gone in the service. Dammit!

  5. I had a 34 Ford coupe body solid no rust minus fenders and frt. end . I had no storage room at the time so I left it at a friends storage shed . Came back to pick it up in 6 months and it's gone , my friends Dad saw it in his shed and thought it was junk and took it to the local scrap yard . Nothing I could do it wasn't on my property !

    For me , it's a tie between a '69 Z28 Camaro and a '66 396/4 speed Caprice-the Caprisce was a 2 door, Marina blue, with Strato bucket seats, console (with a chrome 4 speed knob), and a 4 speaker Stereo-(one of 900 built)-

The Z28 had 37k miles, and had every option except 2X4 carbs, silver w/black stripes-miss 'em both-

  7. When I was A Chevy service manager I sent one of my mechanics to a local dump with a load of used tires . He comes back with a complete tri power intake with carbs for a 406 Ford . He said it was laying there with the garbage . It was muddy but was complete .

In the mid 80s I traded a 65 Corvair Corsa mint as mint could be for a clapped out 65 Mustang fastback. The 4 speed top loader that was in it sounded like a bag of chains - 16 year old me drove the shit out of it for a year and it only got a little bit worse.

I got tired of how wore out it was and bought a Falcon and swapped the standard trans out for the Falcons automatic. The top loader lays on its side in the driveway till some guy knocks on the door and asks if he could have it. Before I could answer yes my mom screams out “ YES “. Didn’t even watch the guy load it up cause M*A*S*H* was on!

And oh yeah had the 2 door white 67 2 door falcon towed away . Because who wants a bench seat Falcon with no transmission anyway?

  12. Around 1995, my brother had a Toyota pickup that he had just repainted. It looked funny with new paint job and no hubcaps. I said I have something that will look good on there and pulled a set of 65 Mustang wire hubcaps with spinner hubs. I walk over the his truck and snap one on the rear wheel, it looks good so I toss the other 3 into the bed. Next time I see him the caps aren't on there so I ask him about it. He says they wouldn't fit on the front because of the hub. I said okay so can I have them back. He said I threw them in the dumpster.

A 34 ford 3 window complete roof that had parts of the quarters and the deck lid hinges attached. I sold it for $800.00 and thought I done good. As nice as it was, Today I would pay 5K for it back and not even bat an eye.
