Sorry but you folks have to deal with the links because I can't figure out the thumbnail business. This is my '50 Ford. Through the magic brush of Ron Bales the chief designer, night janitor and every other duty at Wind River Studios it has been transformed to this Ron has 40 years of experiance working with the brushes.
ok, I just gotta say something. It's killin me. I absolutely love lookin at pin striping. It's an awesome art form, and when done right, truly sets a car above the rest. This car is sweet. Any 49,50,51 ford, merc, linc, get's my eye. And the striping job is very nice, fits the car great, looks good in my opinion. But here's why it's killin me. WHY does it say '50 Ford? It's like the 5.0 marker on a mid 80's mustang. It's just cheesy. hot rod, custom, whatever, we normally remove badges just for the "cool" factor. I don't even mind lookin at cars with their "names" on the trunk. But painting on the year and model? I dunno. I guess it'd stop all the dumb ***es from askin ya... "hey man.. what year is that", but still. I'd paint over it.
You can't pin that on Ron. The '50 Ford was the only part of the work that I insisted on. We take the car to a lot of shows and my wife gets raving mad when a guy asks what the car is to me .. after she has answered his question. After living with the funk that she is in after a few experiances like that now my wife can just smile and ask if they have reading problems.
Boy! I can relate to that, but I have to tell you it doesn't work very well. I have the date,"1955" right next to the chrome tailgate letters that once spelled,"Pontiac"(they were re-arranged to spell out my business name,"PAINTCO")and then in between the vertical chrome pieces on the lower tail gate(in ONE FOOT high letters)the word,"SAFARI". And people still not only ask what year it is but comment on what a nice looking NOMAD it is! All I can say is,"Grin and bear it". Nice striping by the way.
