I asked peoples opinion on here a little over a year ago whether you thought I should put par***ions up in my trunk, or if you though it looked ok with the fresh rear seat backing and clean spatter painted truck. I actually thought it looked good the way it was, but had people commenting at some of the shows as to why I didn’t upholster my trunk and hide the metal, seat back etc… The consensus on here was to put up the par***ions and I finally took the time to go ahead and do it this winter. It was like building a coffin at first, but everyone was right as it definitely looks better..... I have attached a few before, during and after pics to show the improvement. I basically kept the same theme the inside of the car and even modified stainless door trim to separate my colors. The carpet is velcroed down so I can also pull it back and I created a swing door for the spare tire area to store items. Btw I am still looking for a few more pieces to trim the side panels so if you have any or know anyone please let me know. Thanks…
I'm once again very impressed. You're just making us all look bad, lol. Funny, true story......When I first moved to Orange County, I got a job in a machine shop that did short run production stuff for the camera systems they manufactured. After 4 or 5 months, the shop foreman (bosses' son), called me in his office to tell me I wouldn't be getting another pay review until I slowed down. Huh? I gave him a quizacle (sp?) look, and he stated I needed to slow down because my run times were making the rest of the shop look bad. I left his office and told him I'd be back shortly. He asked where I was going. I replied "your dad hired me, he'll be the one I tell why I'm quitting". I did. His dad had a rather sickening look on his face. So quit making us all look bad. Seriously, very nice job, almost makes me want to do mine. Only reason I don't is my car is a long haul cruiser, so trunk is always full of stuff. Did you do the sewing?
lol That's a funny story and I get it... I know it looks like I have done a lot in a short time and I guess I have, but I have been working on the car for the last 12 years and when I finally got it on the road it inspired me to do more. Also trying to get it done this winter so I can kick back and enjoy the Spring, ,Summer and Fall... I have actually been a drag racer my whole life and I sold my drag car a few years back so I'm really bored and this has taken the place of me working on that. Good thing is that I believe I am pretty much done... ha ha btw the back board in my car is removable in just seconds and opens up the full trunk for luggage etc. I do a fair amount of traveling too and will just lay the board over the luggage and then when I get to a show I will flip the board up.
I wont be changing a spare tire on the road with my set up. Too much equipment needed. Considering I havent had a flat in 40 years. and I have 5 cars on the road, I'll keep hoping my luck holds out. If not AAA will be my friend...
Very nice! You kidding yourself if you think your almost done though. I've been saying that the last 3 years on my wagon. LOL
LOL I've been saying that for many years too and I better be through or the wife is going to kill me. Honestly, I cant think of what else I want to do so I'm praying my imagination stops thinking about anything new.
This looks awesome!! I wasn't going to finish my trunk but my wife made me and I'm glad I did. You will really like it when traveling.
Thanks.... I actually just travelled to a nice show in Panama City this weekend and not having to worry about items shifting and potentially hitting the quarter panels was nice. Stress free driving. I made the trunk panel so I can flip it up and store items behind it and it worked great. I had 2 chairs, my tool bag and 2 clothes bags hidden behind it. I basically still have full use of the trunk. I posted a pic with the panel flipped up since I never did that in the initial pics.
Yep. 2 choices for the bottle. In my trap door or behind the par***ion. I swear I gave up drag racing., but what can a little nitrous hurt. Lol
Super looking job, but. Putting the fire extinguisher there is the worst thing you can do. If you have a fire, you could lose the whole car before you can get the extinguisher out, especially if you have suitcases and other items in the trunk. The place for a fire extinguisher is in the p***enger compartment, no matter how bad it may look.
I was just finishing the trunk job and set "that" fire extinguisher in there. When I posted the original pics of the new trunk interior someone asked what was in the compartment so I let them know what it was. I have 2 fire extinguishers in my p***enger compartment and one I set out at car shows to meet their rules and that was the one that was in the trunk compartment. That compartment is closed and covered with a hinged board and carpet and I would never rely on an extinguisher locked in there. Thanks
