Been a member since last February, after hanging around for a couple of years. At 72 yrs.old and have enjoyed it immensely. Bought ‘57 off eBay in November 2018.

I remember in my teens...we're talking mid 70s I was at a Friend of a friends shop and tucked in the busy garage was a 57 Chevy Medium Blue 2Dr post that had obvious 1/4 mile attributes with the rear wheel wells cut circular in that dual curve typical on many race versions...damn it will be stuck in my mind forever... Hey O, Nice future 1957 hot rod. Those were almost as popular as the 2 door hard top Bel Air sedans in our hot rod crusing area of So Cal. But, they allowed simple modifications to make them fast and faster. Just ask those that would see the Chevy two door post car(s) of Tom McEwen as they flew by them on Cherry Avenue. He ruled the roost for many years with his "supply" of V8 Chevy sedans starting with a hot 55, a 56, and this very fast 57 two door post sedan. It was the time period of fast cars that looked like mild customs and some straight from the factory. (There were no raised front ends, straight axles or bumper-less looks.) It was fast, stock looking cars used for everyday driving to school and jobs. But, some just had that extra in the motor department. Those style of stock cars ruled the streets and the classes at Lions Dragstrip and other places in So Cal. Until a bumper got taken off, or headers were put in, then they were re-classified as Gas Coupes or Sedans. Sometimes, a bumper less stock sedan was put into a modified class, like Altereds, just because of being "altered" from stock. (Also, not legal for everyday street driving) Jnaki Keep on with your project. This style of build brings back those memories from the days past. It was from our time doing hot rod things and growing up in So Cal. HAMB post: "The big question was: how could a teenager have the latest Chevrolet on the market with all of the extra go fast stuff that no one else had? A new 55 Chevy for Bixby Knolls cruising and racing, then a new 56 and finally a new 57…Santa Claus was his dad and supplied him with those goodies. With a few extra “mods” and he was now in the Gas Coupe and Sedan Class. A completely stock, street running, daily driver that had one or two mods gets reclassified and put in a Gas Coupe/Sedan Class. That is how the rules were developed for stockers with mods. They may look stock and on the streets, they were stock as far as the guy in the next lane was concerned. But, the results were usually the same, McEwen was the winner."
