Hi y'all, looking to shave down the door handles on my 53 150 chev and was curious if there were any prior threads with relevant info, step by step instructions or even reccomendations on kits. Thanks. ✌
No help on the details but heres a rough visual......I personally usually dont care for shaved handles but thats just my .02, I do however have family that has a 53 with shaved handles that was already done but...???
If you were asking about door poppers, I don't know of any that are offered for a 6 volt system. Or has your '53 been converted to 12 volt? When I shaved the door handles on my '54, I would just reach thru the wind wing to open the door.
yep?, have paint to match existing or start of more custom body work? search here for thread here on this subject: shaved door handles on '54 Chevy
Yeah it's been converted to 12. I guess I was hoping for a reccomendation on a remote lock/unlock kit thats relatively simple.
I did not totally eliminate the door handles, just used the Lincoln ****ons which was fairly straight forward, no new holes in the door. The look is very clean and still practical. You still need door poppers. Reproduction ****ons are available through one of the alliance members.
Jamie, Really like the looks of your car a lot !! I personally like shaved doors, and feel free to ask any questions...you will always get smart *** comments, but also will get good information.. Here is an inexpensive kit...can't vouch for the quality though.. https://www.ebay.com/p/2120963973?i...MItOX0odCD5gIVg6DsCh2K0AhVEAQYASABEgK8QPD_BwE Also if you are handy, I made the door push ****ons on my myself. Welded the door handle holes closed. Cut a new hole and used welded in a short piece of 2 1/2" exhaust pipe which I had adapted to use the front seat ****ons to push the back forward...a bit of small welding and adapting require... Then trimmed the hole, and lastly the custom rubber covers are turkey baster tops cut in half. Lastly a couple of inexpensive mechanical door poppers at the bottom of the doors pop them out nicely.. Total cost for mine was under $20 and work fine, as well as look nice..as apposed to at least a couple hundred bills for the Lincoln push ****ons..
Don't worry, the rescue squad can smash your window to help you. It's illegal in Wisconsin....don't know about other states.
Make sure you have a backup plan just in case like a hidden bike cable installed just in case you have a dead battery/malfunction.
