HELP: Need gear made

Anyone know of a good machine shop that can make me a hard bronze distributor gear for something less that my left one? I need one for my 430 MEL.

 

I've heard cutting a gear referred to as 'hobbing' a gear. Maybe google that term...

I'll ask a buddy of mine here in Seattle area who has a machine shop if he knows anyone.

Check Boston Gear to see if there's a "stock" gear you could use. To get a helical spur gear hobbed will cost LOTS of bread.

 

Had some extra ware going on ,in a 455 pon years ago,and found that drilling a small hole at the angle that was to gear in oil galley,let a small stream keep dip gear good.
Don't know if it would work for you.but somthen like may.

I ***ume this is to use with a steel roller cam...
Talk with a shop that does anti-friction and heat coatings for expensive race engines. There may be a suitable surface treatment to allow this use with a normal gear. Chevy used a steel gear with some sort of moly surface treatment on roller cam Corvettes in the eighties.

Also think TagMan might be on the right track looking at gear vendors to see if there's a blank available that could be cut to length, bored, sleeved or etc. to fit your app.
