Projects When it was complete, did it turn out to be what you originally envisioned it to be ?

Appreciate greatly all that have replied. This is my 2nd edit of the original post. My 34 is great, but different than I envisioned. The majority of you on this site have said what I thought you'd say.
Still working on my 34 making it what I l envisioned, old man time is catching up with this old man though. That is enough for the time being.

15 months later. Teenage juvenile delinquent with the cigarettes rolled up in the sleeve.

4 years and 20K miles and 3 months of paint work later. Grown up and all dressed up.

 

I think that is why you see the pro's do a concept drawing first to keep themselves on track

Yes, my first full build, the old girl started out life as a fire truck. Proud to say I built it all myself outta scrap yard parts and others castoffs.

Built in just one year, but must admit turned out as I imagined it.
Although, this is probably because I was thinking about it most days.

 

I couldn't be happier about the way my 60 Pontiac turned out. It looks great and is the ultimate Highway Cruiser that runs down Interstates at 80 MPH plus without breaking a sweat with the 2004R transmission in overdrive and RPM's in the 2000 range.

 

I think there’s also the factor of how it feels or performs. How it works for you. Not just staying on target to the original plan.

example the model T posted. The primer could have been exactly what he had planned on and after a while realized he really did want it a little more this and that to suit him.

When we built the 46 it was exactly what I had in mind but the more I drove it the more I wanted to change.

going forward however I know what I really want to own vs what I think is cool to look at .

 

I am not good with a pencil , so I altered a Magazine photo to look at what I wanted to do

Then I sandblasted , repaired & cut up my Fordor

People asked me " What the Hell you Doin ?

after a few years " This is what I was Doin "

So , yes , I'm happy with it

 

That depends upon what we are talking about. Marriage? No that did not turn out like I envisioned at all!
But my 34 truck? Yeah, pretty much what I wanted it to be, it was just a lot more work and a lot more expensive than I envisioned:

I usually have a pretty good idea what I want before I start then during the build pretty much stick to it.
So, yes, my cars turned out to be what I planned.

 

I’m pretty much the same way, but during the build, I’m cognizant of the way things ‘fall into place ‘. There will be subtle and not so subtle changes that seem to be ‘the way it should be ‘. I’ve lived long enough to listen to that voice.

I have found that even with a steadfast vision of what you want the build to be, the build will always have a way of telling you what they want, some ideas are "right" and "wrong" and it's just a vibe you get as you continue building. My 2c

Yup .... just made it a 2-in-1 Hot Rod, all I need to get are 4 steel wheels and tires for the old look.

 

Finished? What’s that? Mine will probably never be finished, just maybe driveable.

 

Exactly yes, the black primer and the red wheels is what I had in mind the whole time I was building it. I mighta' grew up along with the car. I guess I just finally realized it looked like an unfinished car.

Yeah, mine is almost identical to what I thought it would be all those years ago. Almost weirdly so!
