I have a T-5 transmission in the wagon and when I was building the car I replaced the short shifter with a modified Hurst that was a lot taller, it works great but when I have it in 5th out on the highway the shiftier seems to have a slight shake the produces a rattle, I used rubber type OE washers between the mount that comes out of the top of the transmission and the shifter, that helped some but didn't eliminate it totally, anyone else ever have this problem? Mine was rattling on the positive stops. I adjusted them out just a hair and it went away.

I don't have one of those new fangled T-5 thingies Danny but I know the two new Hurst shifters I have sure are not as tight feeling as the ones we use to buy.
Two things come to mind, check the rubber trans mount for being loose and/or seperated.
Does the engine feel like it is "lugging" at cruise speed in 5th gear?

Is "shiftier" some sort of French thing?

No lugging in 5th gear, I'm cruising along about 55 MPH. HRP

I've heard several complaints about vibrations when in overdrive on the T5. Maybe it's not the shifter!

also, check neoprene (plastic?) bushings/washers in shifter itself - or run a small bungee cord from shifter to dash/? - Ha!

If everything is mechanically correct. Some auto manufactures had a weight mounted on the tail shaft of the transmission to absorb droning that came in at certain cruise speed. They sometimes put them on a long exhaust system to absorb resonance. Droning or resonance = vibration that would rattle dash, shifter or make a tinney sounding rattle when that cruise speed point was hit.

Lots of OEM driveshafts have harmonic balancer on the drive shaft to help with this issue . The vibration could be carrying from something connected to the trans or crossmember . My old Power Wagon , with the BT ***mins has strange harmonics from the engine vibration . It is really 100x worse than my old Harley . My thoughts to HRP , are look into a softer , set of trans and engine mounts
