So not sure if the F-4 or T-34 I posted would be considered vintage but they sure are cool! Adjustments.JPG IMG_1386.JPG

I watched " Spitfire-The plane that saved the world" on Netflix last night. Highly recommended. Who knew a RR Merlin has 11,000 parts !

For a 2 row ... The push rod tubes seem to be pretty close to the same line.. Without seeing a side it doesn't seem like there are 2 mani cranks and master rods...but I'm no expert on radials

Loving this stuff. My Father-In-Law was a flight instructor during WW2 and afterwards flew P51's in the reserves. He continued to own and fly aircraft for the rest of his life and he was the one that got me into aviation. Here's a couple of photos I took while riding in some vintage tin. (B17 and Ford Tri-motor).

I have flown in both the Collings Foundation B17 and B24. This photo is from the B24 on a flight from Tamiami Airport in South Florida to Marathon. This area is just entering the Key Largo area. My B17 flight was from Tamiami to Naples a year earlier.

My son and I were fortunate enough to see this FW 190 fly at its first public flight several years ago. It resides at the late Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection at Paine Field in Everett WA. If you live in the area and like the Warbirds, go, you won't be disappointed. If are visiting the area, ditto. Late spring in to early fall this museum does free fly days, you can go watch these machines start up belch smoke and fire, and fly! The museum website puts up a schedule. Search YouTube for FW 190 Russian forest and you'll get to see a video of how this plane was discovered in amazingly intact condition in the 1980's .

  25. Today a V1 rocket bomb with 935 kilogram of live explosives was dismantled by special forces explosive experts here in The Netherlands. It was found underground next to a freeway. A complete village nearby was evacuated and the freeway closed all day.

  27. I have done a fair amount of reading on WWII, including the V1 and V2 launch sites. When the permanent sites were bombed out by the allies, the Germans developed a system where they could move the launch platforms and the V1 bombs.
It would be a scary thing to find one, but I am not terribly surprised, because the Germans were using forced labour to dig tunnels and such all over Western Europe.
Here is a link to the listing of some of the launch locations in the Netherlands.
    https://www.tracesofwar.com/themes/4437/V1-launch-sites.htm?show=list

PS: There was a recent program on the History Channel, that explored a tunnel system that was over five miles. If I remember correctly, they were using it to build parts for either the V1 bomb or the ME262 Jet fighter

First pic looks like a G.B, #2 looks like a Ryan PT-22, (would have had a 5 cylinder Kennerer engine) and #5 is something from Lockheed. Started in aviation in 1958 and retired in 2005, both civilian and Air Force. Great collection by the way.

Even though this " BUFF " is vintage, it still looks like the future to me. DSC_4447 (2).JPG
