I find it interesting with the three different locations for the distributor depending on whether carb/injected, or blower.

I saw one in a 66 or 67 Fairlane years ago. IIRC, it had Magnum 500s and red line tires, stock Ford 4 speed shifter and the 427 hood scoop. Total sleeper except the huge tail pipes. They had it sitting along side the curb idling. I have never heard anything like that in my life. It was built to stock specs, dynoed at around 640 HP. The ground just vibrated for 10' around it at an idle. Totally different sound than any engine I have heard. I imagine it could fry that set of tires off in an instant. Very cool.

I concur, NOTHING sounds quite like a naturally asperated Ford SOHC 427 engine at idle and its not just because of that mile long timing chain, a supercharged one has its own sound too, often wondered what Pete Robinsons' sounded like with the gear driven cams.
I've watched those videos of some naturally aspirated ones running and been around a couple while running, it really has to be experienced in person.

This is a good video of Jay Brown's Cammer powered '64 Galaxie back in 2009 during Drag Week. The sound is exquisite. The poor G8 never stood a chance.

I never saw it run in the original configuration here, but I owned this in the late 70's after it was turned into a Gas/Altered type car with a rectangular tube chassis.
