Based on the color chips in "The 1932 Ford Book" published by the Early Ford V8 Club (https://shop.efv8.org/collections/ford-books/products/1932-ford-book-softbound-all-new) it looks like Ford Medium Maroon. Having said that it looks to me a little lighter than the chip but that could be from my computer monitor, the camera that took the picture, the lighting and any post processing of the picture. As far as a paint formula goes if I needed touch up I would have a paint store scan the car to match it. Paint fades over time and it may have not be correct when the car was restored. The author of the book is the technical director for the Early Ford V8 Club (and has held that position for years) and he posts frequently under a screen name on fordbarn.com and the Early Ford V8 Club site (https://www.earlyfordv8.org/forum/viewtopics.cfm?Forum=19) so you might try your question there. If anyone has the paint formulas translated into currently available tinting colors he would be the person. Charlie Stephens
If it is indeed a original 1932 Ford p***enger color, the 1932 Ford book list the color as Ford medium Maroon, they only list one maroon color. HRP
Looks more burgundy to me. Like the mid-60s Ford “vintage burgundy”? I can’t listen to the video currently, what does he say about the paint?
I use paintref.com to look up original colors and the only Ford maroon they list for 32 is Ford Medium Maroon PPG code IM1248.
Thank you all for your replies. I believe this car has a lighter color than the original 1932 medium maroon. As HalleysRevenge said, the Burgundy red found on some 67 Mustang seems to be a good way. But, I'm building a prewar style roadster period correct. So, what about this 1936 Poppy Red M0986 ? https://nickmix01.livejournal.com/196338.html But weather isn't the same...
If you are thinking of buying the car you might ask if anyone sees anything that is not correct for a restoration (if that is what you want). People will generally not criticize a car unless they are asked to do so. The car looks nice but without a price is is rough to recommend buy or p***. Charlie Stephens
