Hey guys... I just wanted to drop a note to let you know we're having a benefit for my Dad Saturday July 1st.

    Here's the deal...

A family friend that has WAAYYY more money than any one person should got all geeked up about the 4th of July, and bought $20,000.00 worth of fireworks!
He sent 2 guys to get their pyrotechnician's licenses, just to light these off!
Then, he realized he didn't have any place to light them!!!!

So, he asked my grandmother about our place...

She gave the "go ahead", and we decided to incorporate that into a party that we were planning for later in the year for my dad.

Then, my dad's best friend from high school volunteered his band to play, and volunteered to make fliers as well!

He (after discussing it with my mom and grandma) decided to make it a benefit too, to help cover some of my dad's medical bills from the accident...

So, the details are as follows:

    Filpansick's Pond; 5214 W Dodge Rd, Clio MI 48420

    Gates open at 6pm

    MAJOR fireworks display at dusk

    Live classic rock band

We will have food and pop

    BYOB; NO GLASS CONTAINERS ALLOWED!

Bring your Hot Rod to make it ON topic! (I'll have the '55 there!)

There are ~3 acres of clean water, so bring your swimsuit and/or fishing pole (last I heard it was catch & release)

There's a playground for the kids, so bring them too!

Please bring a donation or a dish to pass!

There's some info HERE, or you can PM me or call me for any more info...

Sorry for the short notice, but hopefully some of you can make it out!

    Thanks!:)
    Steve

hmmm... I might be off of work... I just might. I'll see what the boys are doing.

(Is this a pre 64 car benefit?)

    Haha!

No Mike, Mulletcaminos are welcome here too!;)

    I don't know how you Indiana-ins feel about camping, but me and the girls will likely stay the night back there;
so if you guys have a tent, you're more than welcome to crash there too!

There are outhouses and a big 'ol fire pit, so it's good for long duration visits... (The Boyscouts rent it from her for like a 2 week block every summer)

It'd be cool if you could make it!

Maybe if you got into town a little early I could give you a tour of the "Hardcore" compound!:D

Sounds like a blast! I'm going to be about an hour north of you (East Tawas)for that long weekend. I'll take the directions with me but I'll have to play it by ear so to speak. The Flint crew is always a good time for sure and this is certainly a worthwhile "benefit". Tell your dad I said "hi" and I'll be thinking about him.;)

Awww, ya GOTTA let me light off at least a FEW of the boomers!

Okay...all I'm asking for is like...FIVE M-80s, an ordinary can of gasoline, a few shotgun shells, some common garbage bags, and a tall propane tank from any gas welding rig...that, some matches, wick material and a 12 pack of Coors Light!!

    :D

Why do I have "The A-Team" theme song playing in my head right now??? :D

  13. This is not going to be pretty... at least there's a lake nearby to put him out.

Denise, there's a guy in East Tawas that makes really good Jerky, If you can find him. I think it's called Little Town jerky. Comes in a package with a gold background. Make sure you get the fresh stuff and keep it in the fridge. Tell him the old owners of Herky Jerky sent ya.

There is a guy in town that makes AWESOME jerky in a little mom and pop general store. I can't remember the name but I stop in there every time I'm in town. He has about 30 different varieties, some very exotic. I'm looking forward to tasting the turkey jerky this year.

If it's the same business you are referring to, I will mention "Herky Jerky" to him.

    Cool!

    What kind of bugs?
Lemme know if I can help...

  19. I think I am leaving for vacation Saturday afternoon. But if the wife ends up working on Saturday maybe we'll leave sunday morning. I'll play it by ear and let you know. Would love to come though.

Joe, I think the only bug you need to work out is backing your foot away from the floor board every so often!!!
