Hi all and I want to say I've enjoyed this forum for some time and have gained no small amount of knowledge here. Thank you all!
    Now the blues.
I have a new project . 1953 chevy 210 club coupe 216 ci and manual transmission.
It's all original but been off the road for years. I have the motor running now and it has a low end knock , loud knock.
After some thought and research I decided to go with a newer 6 . Better oil pressure and other improvements in the later 235 six's .
I found ,locally, a rebuilt 235 from a 56 chevy that I thought would fit the bill. Fit being the key word.
I got the motor , I think, cheep . When I got it off my truck I noticed it , the 235, has motor mount on the front! The 216 has side mounts! I can't find any information on line that clues me into what I can do to make this motor work except find another block! Any thoughts ? If I have to fab mount in the front of the frame and the rear bell I may as well fab the mounts for a v8 But that will cost and I'm cheep or broke or what ever. I have a 69 v8 automatic falcon with 60 thousand mile that works great but is hit hard on the driver door . I'm thinking of transplanting all of the falcon to the chevy. The rear will be a perfect fit! Again , any thoughts?

@danny cupp Cool Chevy Coupe....pretty scarce body style. Given that '49 thru '54 Chevy front cross members are generally the same, it is likely yours has the bolt holes for the front engine mounts.
However, I personally prefer the side mounts as used on your '53 as I think they better control engine torque movement. Many years ago I had a '51 Chevy and one of the front engine mount's rubber separated and the engine would roll sideways on left turn acceleration and jam the throttle linkage.

You don't indicate where you are located, but I have a good running '53 235 Powerglide engine I am removing from my '37 Chevy. As you may know, the '53 PG engines are 235 cu in and have insert bearings and full pressure lubrication. If interested, PM me.

    Best wishes with your project.

  4. Sorry about the crappy old cell-phone pictures. These are the front mounts I built for my ‘54. The engine is s 1956 261.

If I fab some front mounts on my frame to except the newer 235 will I also have to change the rear mount?

Very nice job on the mounts! Did you also have to do something different in the trans mount? I understand the cars that used the front mounts also had a bell housing that had mounts on it to keep the motor stable?
