Technical Any New Year's Resolutions For 2020?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by The Shift Wizard, Dec 30, 2019.

  1. So what are you going to do different next year that you didn't accomplish last year? Do you have a project that you swear to God you will finish, no more putting it off? Or are you going to hunt down that special model vehicle that you always dreamed about?
My resolution is simple (on the monitor screen, anyway). I'm going to get those last niggling details sorted out on my '50 Chevy truck and take a trip farther than the Post Office.

Less tapping putter screens and more making sparks.

My big holdup on the mechanical rehab of the Fairlane for the last few years has been two thing's, #1 I'm a parent to my 8 year old grandson and the family dynamics have changed completely, AKA, divorce, it's nice when you finally get krazy to load her suv up and go, four years and the dust is finally settled down. #2 at the same time the devorce was going on I filed for disability, seven weeks after filling I get a check. Come to find out I worked five to ten years longer than most. So getting back to the 64, I need to mount the rear Caltrack spring hangers and tie them to each other and the frame connectors that need installation. Did I mention that I'm putting in a narrowed rear axle ***embly and need to work magic on inner wheel housing's.
So I'm looking for plenty in 2020 but if I just had a few weeks of how it used to be, I'd be smoking!
    Have a great new year!
    Tom
    Edit:
    I got off topic
    This is about resolutions
So how about this, let's not live in yesterday and be thankful for today! Let's try it all year long.

Get my O/T 68 C10 project done so I can start tearing my 33 pickup apart to redo it.

I don't swear anything to God because I'm afraid a big lightning bolt might come from the clouds and zap my fat *** into a pile of soot. However, there are three things I'd like to do:
    -Sell my '64 Falcon
-Get lots done on my '32 Pickup project
-Lose 30-40 lbs and throw my BP and gout meds in the trash.

    1. Have the Custom/Lead Sled-ification of the '36 Cabriolet finished by spring (skirts, spare, stance, wide whites etc).

    2. Be a better person

The 1st one is doable...the 2nd sounds like it may take just a little too much effort...so I'll probably just remain my old ***hole self

Well...considering I have two boys and one girl turning 16 in 2020, I have to finish at least a couple projects. Each boy has a project pu (63 Chevy and 51 Chevy) and apparently my procrastination has caught up with me. Not sure yet what my daughter will want to drive but she has no interest in it being something as old as the boys will be driving.

  11. Better than me?
You set your sights too low.

This one reminds me of a one-liner by a character played by that old-time comic, Sid Ceasar; he said: "I'm going to quit drinking, first chance I get".

I for sure won't be buying a new treadmill like so many people do.
I'm gonna wait a couple months and buy one at their garage sale, cheap.

Probably said the same things this time last year. Sell all the unwanted **** around here, automotive and not. Finish the garage inside, finish some house projects. Get the T BobTail up and rolling, same thing for the Hupmobile. Happy New Year everyone. Bob

First of all I want to try to forget about this whole 2019 year. It has been a very bad year for me, and to top it off some *** clown backed into my all but new pickup truck today and smashed the p***enger side door.:mad::mad: I just hope to have a much better 2020, continue to improve the drag coupe, drag race, And not die from constant stress. Screw 2019!!

Would like to say my resolution is to get engine and transmission in my ‘57. Every time I set a deadline, seems I miss it. So my resolution is to try and “get back to it”. Happy New Year To All !!!!!!!!!.

Get the engine/****** installed and hook up a batt to it to see if she fires. If I'm feeling really ambitious rig up some kind of gantry crane with pallet racking and start working on the hacking out the floors.

    1. bang out all of those little projects around the house to get it ready for sale
    2. move out of MD and into a house with a first floor master and more garage bays than bedrooms
    3. collect parts for my next project
