I do too. Looks like a cheap 50s sci-fi movie "alien spaceship" ( imagine lights instead of pleats behind the slots and a barely visible wire "flying" it).

    Great build.

pecker head, Really diggin' the build and the clean work you are doing. I do have a couple of suggestions, if I may:
Tighten the throttle return spring up a bit. It should have a bit of space between the coils at full return so it still has tension.
Bend and flare a fuel line to fit between the pump and carb. It will look better, and if you ever take the car down the strip, many places limit you to a TOTAL of 12" of rubber in the whole system. That side is also pressurized.

P.S. Checkered Vans for the win!

That type of choke also likes to have a metal tube running to either the exhaust crossover in the intake manifold (don't see provision for it) or the exhaust manifold itself (drill a hole in the flat D-shaped area that is not level, IIRC). It's a slip fit in the exhaust, threaded nut on the choke. Without the proper heat coming up, the choke will not open properly, and it is a vacuum leak, too.

I live in TEXAS , no choke required. Will be hard lined from pump to carb.VAN’s always ROCK.Thanks man.

    Cool (but not cold)! :D
Then back it off completely and plug the hole in the housing so it isn't vacuum leaking. It's a small hole that looks like it might be at 1 O'clock on yours in the pics. There is a passage tube that does NOT have a screw going thru it to attach the choke housing to the carb main body. There is also a small gasket with 2 holes, one for the alignment bump and the other for the vacuum passage. That's what I see in the one pic of the side of the carb.

Used to work in a shop that had a SnapOn generator checker (growler) and armature turner.
Something tells me the warranty for that tool is not Lifetime any more!
While trying to come up with a picture of one (no luck), I came across this. It might help ya!

It’s looking good, I feel that your taste and and classic approach to hot rods are the same as mine. Not trying to high jack your topic but here is my firewall old wheel barrow ATTACH=full]4534695[/ATTACH] IMG_1463.JPG

Great work on the firewall Peck.
I did one similar several years ago and reversed the seam flanges so that the firewall bolts were hidden inside the cab. The firewall looked even better with a nice smooth clean finish.

Sorry, no close ups, but if you blow up these two attached pic's and you know what you are looking for you can just faintly see that there is no seam flange outside.

Damn near finished with drivers side. Passenger side tomorrow, I wired brushed all the rust and sprayed rust encapsulator on it. Don't know how old this reproduction lower cowl part was, I took it in a trade but it fit good. Hope the HOWELLS SHEET METAL repop I bought at Pate Swap Meet last year fits the passenger side as well. Drilling all the holes in the right place was very time consuming.
