    I'd drive that !!!!!

  4. That car was featured in hot rod a couple months ago. Not a concept car at all, just a 54 holden custom.

No it is a redesign of an FJ 1948 Holden. A design exercise/show car. It is totally new construction, not a modified original FJ Holden. Is an amazing piece, the 1/4 scale mock up model was on display at John's Rod and Custom Picnic last year. Geoff aka whodaky

    Hello all,

This is definitely Holdens best ever concept car and unfortunately it will never be put into production. If it was i'm sure there would be many orders placed for one, I included :)

I've been to a couple of shows where it has been on display and unfortunately the photos just don't do it any justice. This thing is wicked. Everything about this car screams out awesome. I think I may have some photos I have taken of it but again this thing needs to be seen in the flesh to really appreciate it.

    Cheers

It is a dead set piece of art.
The lines on it are amazing, the paint is amazing, the interior is something to behold.
Sadly it is a one off concept car / show car only.

Looks fantastic. I wonder what it would cost if it ever did go into production?

  14. Looks pretty damn cool from the rear, too! Sorry this is pixeled out. It's a thumb I enlarged. So sue me. No, don't....

There was a story a few months back that Holden were gonna pop another body for a Top Doorslammer racer down under.... possibly Victor Bray?

I just checked the site and there are some pretty cool pics of it on the home page, but if you look under the "H" category, there's a ton more!

Yeah... the Effigy has caused a lot of commotion... It's quite possibly the best concept car in years, IMHO... The styling is dead nuts on, and it's such a great tribute to the original (even a v-butted windshield!) that it's mistaken for a re-pop or customized original. I'll share some pics I have... The dash display is killer (great mix of tech and nostalgia!)... and the count-down on ignition is a kick-ass idea!!

Hate to raise an old topic, but if anyones interested, I have a powerpoint presentation about the concept car. It gives you a good insight into how it was built. Definitely NOT a customised FJ. PM me & I can send it to you.

Its even got a push button auto. Hmmm, where we seen that before? Mopar wannabe...

First shown to the public in October 05. Here's an extract from the presentation.

    Design philosophies
Holden Chief Designer and EFIJY project leader Richard Ferlazzo, who sketched the first EFIJY designs in 1989 and is a long-time custom car fanatic, said the car existed purely for automotive entertainment.
“Invariably, people smile when they see it for the first time. EFIJY is our accolade to the talented designers who cut loose with some fantastically flamboyant styling in the post-war 1940s and 1950s,” Ferlazzo said.

If it is a concept car then it sure beats the hell out of others i've see. Then lines are incredible and i really dig the interior.

the car you have seen IS a CONCEPT car it is rolling on one of your latye model vette chassis it was designed by HOLDEN with a style that leaned toward an old holden model (the FJ holden)the holden design guys stole the idea off an Aussie customiser who was working over and original FJ but they have produced a 5million buck super car that should go into production ,ive put into posts previously that GM in the USA also ripped off the SS concept pick up off the same model ute the FX/FJ coupe utility produced from 48 to 56,google it and you will see the resemblance, the pic on my avtar is under the hood of mine(ive owned it for over 20 years)so yes it is definatly a concept car ,hopefully it will go into production ,but im not holding my breath, but there is talk of someone flopping a mould off it to produce glass bodies but i doubt Holden will let them ruin it by doing this!

I believe the new GTO's are going out of production in the US, they sold very poorly due to bland exterior design. I'll hand it to them for the drivetrain and RWD layout, but it's an ugly car.

Back on topic, I agree that the Holden concept is exceptionally well done and it would be great to see it be brough to production. I think there'd be a market for something like this as well. I'm not sure it's fair to compare it to the Cadzzilla, they were built for vastly different purposes under different circumstances.
